I am afraid that things did get lost, like you mention... What about my emails then, that's very annoying too, you know <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

I'll look into the matter on Monday, but I fear what's lost is lost...

Sorry for this.

ps: it's not our server which crashed...

Oops my mistake. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" />

Probably a smart thing to have your webserver offsite. you never know when some one keeps a bath running and floods your server. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif" alt="" />

I don't think I lost anything here, I don't keep count of my posts that much. And I haven't checked my pm's yet, but like Lynn said, what's lost is lost, these things happen.
Well done on restoring the forum again. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

i'm not sure but there should be a way to recover all the data that was lost after all the whole forum software is based on php and mysql databases...i don't think that the data was simply lost if the server crashed...

Except when it was an HD crash ...

Yeah but still.
Standard backup should only loose 1 day.

Every week a full backup and every day an incremental or differential backup keeps you from loosing more then a days worth of data.

Now most servers work with a RAID array. So if 1 HD fails it can be replaced without loosing data.

It's the HD of our provider who crashed and they didn't have a backup from those last days.

Yeah Figured that out too. But the web hosting company you used realy should have gotten a raid array in the server just in case (how else are they going have 99.999% uptime).

Lynn, may i ask if it's possible to build in feature(s) to save all of our PMs? i see that it's possible in Proboards so i thought maybe it can be done for PM boxes.
