Hello everyone,

I downloaded and installed the 1.34 patch the other day and since then I wouldn't be able to select any weapons via the 'browse weapons' function, the only way was to do it manually by dragging them from the inventory panel to the equipment panel. Numerous re-installs I made wouldn't fix that. It HAS to be a 1.34 patch specific problem, since it does NOT occur with the 1.29 or the 1.33 version. In that case I'm sticking to the 1.33 patch since it has been the most critical update so far (by the way what is the black maps/resseted world bug that the 1.34 patch was supposed to fix? Since I am missing it now with the 1.33 version, is my game in danger?). Thank you in advance..

Someone else ran into a very similar problem, but reinstalling the game fixed it;
HELP : can't change weapon

If you start a new game with the 1.34 patch installed, can you use the weapon toolbar?

If a new game does not work either, there is a file verification method you can check to see if there is a corrupt file in the game folders (see the link below). If a new game works, there may be a problem in the save folder.

Troubleshooting Tips (& manual install procedure)

The black map bug was a potential problem when loading saves from game version 1.32 or earlier in version 1.33. The game could reset the fog of war (minor) and the world file for an area (serious), which would reseal quest opened locations, and destroy items left directly on the ground.
If you installed the patch before you began your current game, you will not run into the black map problem. Since you have not had any problems so far, I would guess you should be ok (if not there are workarounds for the problems it can cause).

I didn't have any problems playing normally under the 1.33 version. I could trigger the black map bug by loading a 1.32 save, resaving under v1.33, quitting the game, deleting the files in the dynamics folder, restarting the game and reloading the 1.33 save (I don't recall the exact procedure; I think I had to do something else, as well).

No, it happens even if I make a fresh install, install the 1.34 patch and begin a new game. If I revert to 1.29 - 1.33 version it is fixed. Also, the filecheck app did not find any problems. Isn't it strange that it happens only to me (since it's a gameplay issue, not related to graphic or sound problems?)

If the Filecheck program didn't identify any possible corrupt files in the game folder, then the problem may be in a configuration file or something that is expected to be different between different installations.
It is also possible the game files are fine, but something in how the weapon menu is handled changed with the 1.34 patch. The 1.34 patch was released specifically for the black map bug, so it would have to be something indirect.

It could be a rare bug that is only triggered under certain conditions, though I don't know how likely that is with the specific changes from v1.33 to 1.34. It could be a conflict with some background program or driver, though it would have to be a fairly rare combination to only be reported a couple times.

Maybe your computer is possessed. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />
