Larian Studios Forums Beyond Divinity (English) General Act 4: Defeating Samuel (possible spoiler)

Hey guys...i'm at the end of the game...almost a the end...when you have to kill Samuel in the Academy to pick the wand...i really dont know how to defeat him...one of the big problem seems to be the shadow creatures! They are a pain in the [nocando]...lol...does anyone have or know a good strategy?

My stragy is not the best one but i killed Samuel.
First i opened the door of Samuel's room but i did not stay too long in the room.
I run quickly and i went back in the first room of the level.
A few shadows followed me and i killed them.
I killed the shadows in the second room and in the third room and i saved the game.
Then i could fight Samuel alone. I had to use a lot of potions for killing him.
It was not an easy fight.

What is the kind of your characters ?

I equipped the act 1 skeleton doll with a crossbow, and then had it and my hero use splitting arrows. With my hero into the room a bit and to the right and the doll near the entrance, the shadow creatures in the crossfire didn't last very long, and I then switch to power arrows against Samuel (my DK targeted him from the start). That fight was the first time I had used non-normal arrows in the game, other than briefly trying some of the first elemental arrows I found; playing again I would switch to power arrows as they were readily available.

Well...i've a level 30 warrior(the better skill is two handed sword) and the DeathKnight is focused in good ranged skills...but i've only bone arrows...i might try to buy better ones...
