I think you lot have got the wrong end of the stick.
I too like the free system, becuase of that you can mix the attributes to what you feel is the best for the particular class.
E.g in my mind a barbarian is as i describe above...
Of course other people have have a different idea of what a barbarian is and so they will choose their skills/methods of playing which suit them and under the free/open system they should be allowed to do so.
So if i was playing an assassin, i would choose the backstab/sword expertise/embrace shadows/poison weapon maybe stun and in the game i would not care about a + reputauion but about what was in it for me.

If you want to play the game in a certain way, you simply do so. That's one of the greatest things about .
I am in blood Stepp'd in so far, that, should I wade no more, Returning were as tedious as go o'er.

Or, as an alternative, they could have some kind of classystem based on what skills you have for the moment. A bit like D&D, just the other way around, you skills decide your class, not your class decide your skills. Could be fun to see what you turn out to be (unless the classes are simply survivor, warrior and wazard...). Or you could get to name the class yourself, and it would just change the name of your characterclass and nothing more.
Anyway, I don't think they will remove the free system. And as long as they keep away from trainers (I HATE trainers ), I'm fine .

UB: Trainers are a bit similar to gettng a skill book when buying them in a shop.
But the thing about the buying the book is that you dont know if your going to be offred it,unlike the trainer where you know the skills are there waiting to be learnt.
So it feels special when you buy the book and thats why i too dont like trainers.

I don't like trainers, because that means I have to find someone to teach me a skill when I want a certain skill. Plus you get a better overview if you have all skills from the start.

Trainers are ok I guess, but only if you can choose the skill anyway (like the way one is able to do that in Divine Divinity).

As I said: the Divine Divinity system should definetely still stand. If they want to add trainers to it, no problem. As long as you as a player are free to choose.

Trainers is not ok.. ... that is what will really mess up your gameplay because of errors that might be caused, spoiling the fun of the game and so on.. DD and BD are games that sucks cheating on.. I think it's ok to use guides, tricks and glitches, but not trainers.. and cheats that might ruin the fun.. having alot of money doesn't ruin your gameplay, but having 999999 stats does..
Well thats my opinion on using trainers in these games..

I think you have the wrong idea. When we say trainers, we really mean trainers: NPC's in the game who can teach your characters certain skills. (So we don't mean trainers in the cheating sense.)

Ub: Yeah i too like all the skills from the start.
A trainer should not have to unlock the system, but i take MacBeth's point.
If you want to learn the skill by paying then you should be able to do so. Of course there would be other ways to learn skills but id say to pay the trainer you need an extremely high some of money, becuase otherwise youd just pay the trainers and not learn them, it may take fun out of the game.

I think thats a personal desision. i can imagine that some people just want to pay and now the skill, than rather go and earn the skillpoint. (i prefer the second way)

Let the Larian guys decide by themselves which skill system they will implement in the next game. Barta

as a full-time larian fan: I want a raise! Do you want a raise or a raze ? Because in that case, Raze deserves a raise more than you. Barta
