I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Nintendo could not have put more than thirty seconds into coming up with a name for this system. Calling it a "We" would have been bad enough, but changing the "e" to "ii" as an alternate spelling was downright retarded. I hate alternate spellings by default, anyway, so my opinion is a bit biased, but that doesn't make the name not stupid.

Also, the concept of Nintendo's motion sensitive controllers is stupid. That being said, I was always the kid that would yank the paddle up while yelling at Mario to jump higher. I'm also the guy who leans into the turn during racing games. So, the Nintendo Wii, as ridiculous as the foundation for it is, was a perfect fit for me.

The Wii comes with a motion sensitive wand, and a "nunchuk" that plugs into the wand in case you are playing a game that takes both hands to control. I'm not sure why they called it a "nunchuk" but if I had to go with the pattern, I'd say it's because Nintendo laid off their creative minded people and asked a bunch of four-year olds what to name it.

One of my buddies bought the Wii last night because he's as retarded as Nintendo. Er, I mean because the Wii makes the Gamecube obsolete since you can plug in Gamecube controllers and memory cards and play gamecubes games on that system without a hitch. (hint, hint Microsoft)

The graphics of the games are nothing to write home about or even spend more than two sentences talking about. But looking pretty isn't the point of these games; it's to get you used to the controls. The game are Boxing, Baseball, Tennis, Golf, bowling etc. Graphics on the real games are very good.

It's very easy to get involved in the game you are playing, especially when playing against another human being. Watching people play is almost as fun as playing. Sometimes it's even more fun depending on just how involved they get. I was boxing a friend last night, and he was actually doing the Ali "floating like a butterfly" dance during the fight.

The Wii may not boast the processing power and the sharp realistic looking graphics that Microsoft and Sony systems do, but so what? When it comes down to just being a fun console to play, Nintendo has that market cornered and has for years. Not to mention, the extremely low price of the Wii.

The best part about the Wii? No load times. Unlike with Gamecube, XBox, and PS2, games load up just as fast as they did for the NES. For those people who suffer from ADD or a simple lack of patience, it's a great thing.

Is 250 bucks worth it for the Nintendo Wii? Of course it is. If you paid that much money for a PSP, you should definitely see this as a great bargain.

Excellent! It looks like Wii might be the first console worth buying since my PSone (gun games.)

I remember reading that the name Wii was chosen as it can be pronounced easily in any dialect. They wanted it to feel accessable to as wide an audience as possible.

Except that your friends won't seem to understand the concept of "I'd stop hitting you if you'd move the hell away from me when I'm playing." Or maybe it's just my friends that are just that stupid.

Dodgy straps - never mind that guy's TV, expect a load of Wii related injuries as kids bounce those controllers inadvertently off their mates heads during a game.

Still, better than being mugged for a PS3...yep!!

I want one.

=D

And an Xbox 360.

But no ps3.

I'd rather have both of those and no Ps3

I dont think I want any of them!

Though quirky, I think the Wii is good for the younger generation of gamers, and especially non-gamers.

The XBox 360 and the PS3 seem to be just upgraded graphics. So I'd rather upgrade my PC. Cheaper too, and so are the games. By 20 to 30 euro cheaper on PC by average.

I have a PSP, which is great, and the latest firmware has a built in PSone emulator. But those $ony feckers have made it so you have to have a PS3 to download the PSone games to the PSP.

That's just greedy.

In $ony's case it's going to be a 600 to 700 euro 'microtransaction'

I'd have gladly bought a few PSone games for a fiver each to play on the PSP if I didn't have to use a PS3.

Anyway, back to the Wii...

The retro virtual console in it is a nice idea, but am I being a hypocrite? Cos you buy the Wii to play the older snes and N64 games, but you need to buy a PS3 to play the PSone games (on the PSP).

I think the difference is I prefer mobile retro gaming over sitting by a TV or PC, hence the reason sony annoyed me with the P3 requirement.

I already have the old nintendo games.

If you want to play advanced games with uber realistic graphics, go PC.
If you want to have tons of fun with friends, gaming together and being able to have a few beers while doing so, go gamecube and now wii!

No one in their right minds need an PS3 or xbox360 unless they have way to much money to spend

My brother-in-law's Wii is supposed to arrive today and we're gonna be out of town for the week. That aside, hooray for Wii!

EDIT: He just got back with it! Wii party tonight!

Have you actually read about or seen what exactly the PS3 is able to do that you can say that?

Let alone the impressive gaming hardware, you get a Blu-Ray player for less than you would have to pay anyway. Yes, there are a few problems as for now but I hope those will be solved until the PS3 is released in Europe.

If you buy a PS3, you do not only do so because you just want to play games - it is more like a multimedia device for your living room.... and hell it is! It even supports Linux and I predict that in quite a short time and with the solution of a few problems, it will be even possible to watch and record movies with it.

So, you would get a great console for playing, a cheap Blu-Ray player, a digital video recorder, a basic internet station, a decent video and photo presenter and God knows what else.

It's quite ingorant to say that nobody in their right mind needs that. Even PC gamer might have fun with the PS3 since many games don't even come close to being relased on the PC (and vice versa of course).

But I'd rather have a computer

A Wii is alot more fun to play then the Xbox 360 or the Ps3, as well as being so much cheaper.

Indeed, and I think PC gamers wouldn't really miss PS3 since the same type of games are playable on both. And in case you wanna say the PS3 games are better, you must be forgetting about games as oblivion, dark messiah, warhammer, medieval 2: total war etc

I know what the PS3 can do, but I also know my computer can do better
It can read and write dvd also, play games on it, internet on it, watch movies on it etc!
Why spend an extra 500 dollars (and like 60 extra per game) on a machine that basically does what my computer can too?

I haven't said that a PS3 or PS games are better or worse than a PC or PC games... you just can't compare a personal computer to a console.
And you tend to conclude from your own case... let's say I have a PC but it is 4 years old. So, I would have to upgrade it anyway or even buy a new system. I think the money I would have to spend wouldn't be less than the 600 bucks for a PS3.
And if you can show me the PC which can do what the PS3 can do and is cheaper, I will gladly say that your point is valid. Of course there are PCs for 600 Euro or little more. But what about the Blu-Ray player? You might not be interested in it but it is an advantage of the PS3 you can't talk away.

About the games:
As I said, there are PC games which you don't get for the PS3 - and vice versa. Just an example: If you like racing games and have played any Gran Turismo game only once, you will never want to play a racing game on the PC again. There are examples for PC games either... again, I am not saying one is better or worse than the other. We are talking about two systems here... I don't say you have to decide for one and only one system.

Personally, I regard the PC more and more like a working device... I work on the PC and don't play games that much anymore. When I had the PS2 a few months ago, it was really nice to play with it wihtout sitting in front of the PC but on the sofa in front of my bigger TV screen. And that's the place for consoles.... therefore, comparing a PC with consoles is not really good in my opinion.
