Not sure if either of these questions were asked already and if so sorry for asking again (i only searched the first page of threads).

(1)
I've been playing DD for 2 days now and im experiencing sudden crashes that display the annoying "<Name of app here> needs to close, we are sorry for the inconvinience" this happens randomly...

(2)
Sometimes when i quit out of DD and return to my desktop my app icons and just about every icon on my PC is either missing or displaying as a .exe icon.

These are my system specs.

OS: Windows XP Media Center Edition.
Processor: AMD Anthlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs).
RAM: 2GBs.
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon X1300 (512MBs VRAM).

Any ideas about these problems?

Shiek2005.

There is a search function in the forum, in the text menu bar near the top of each forum page (white text on a blue background), though I don't think that would have helped much for the second question, at least.

Random errors are difficult to track down...

Do you have any other DirectX games that you have played recently? Similar problems in other games (or resource intensive programs) would point to a system issue, while DD specific problems would imply a conflict between the game and system somewhere.

Troubleshooting Tips (& manual install procedure)

There are a couple troubleshooting topics for Beyond Divinity that go into system issues (spyware, etc), though you would have to skip over the BD specific stuff;
yet another "Game simply won't start!"-thread and BattleFields N00b ?

Windows uses a cache for shortcut icons, which has a tendency to become corrupt. Resolution switching with low system memory (exiting a game) may increase the chance of Windows having a problem. Alternately, since the game is full screen, corrupt icons are only going to show up when you exit (or alt-tab out of the game). That said, I don't think DD should be any more of a problem than any other game in this regard.

Tweak UI is one of the Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP, and contains a function to recreate the icon cache (under the Repair section).
