AMD Athlon 64 3700+ (single core)
AMD Dual-Core Opteron 2.4ghz
AMD Athlon 64 FX-57
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (single core)

I have noticed around the web that people having the game not responding problem after the ladybug/ship cutscene seem to have older AMD processors.

I have tried everything in the related help threads to fix this on my sons AMD Athlon 64 3700+ system without any success.

Please list your processor if you are having the same problem and maybe we can get a fix/response from Larian.

Note: it is not just an AMD issue.
Confirmed on Intel's too.

We have been trying to reproduce this issue.

We were finally able to reproduce another issue where the game already quits after the first logo's movie with the latest Nvidia drivers. Workaround:
A) using 182.50 drivers.
B) using driver sweeper to uninstall all nvidia drivers and installing the latest one again.

We now have a new issue that happens right after the intromovie (where damian, the dragon and the slayer are shown).

Once this last issue has been looked at, we may have an answer.

So far this has only happened on one system with AMD processor.
Config:
Athlon 64 4600+
2GB ram
8800 GTS vidcard
WinXP SP3
with Directx from DVD & physx from DVD

Hopefully we will know more soon when the engine team knows exactly what is going on.

I will post more when there is more to post smile

It seems to be happening again when following rhode out of broken valley. After going through the area that was once blocked, a loading screen pops up and the same issue happens

I see you have gotten passed this point by using a save. Sorry to hear it still happens later on in the game, but that would have been my guess as well.

I will keep you posted on the progress.

Some people are having the same issues with Intel processors though. It seems to me that it's a problem with certain cutscenes loading...as I am pretty sure there is a CutScene right after character creation and another one at the next spot it locks up.

I noticed I had NO issues with loading whatsoever (loading was actually quite fast) during normal gameplay, loading dungeons, and other areas.

Mine is a Quad Core (AMD Phenom 9750), with an ATI Radeon 4850, and it happens too.

One of our engine guys that is currently looking into this problem asked the following:

- Turn down texture quality to lowest
- try to run the game in the lowest possible resolution

Can anyone try if this puts them beyond the ladybug movie ?

Thanks in advance.

Tried it and the answer is no.

On the other hand ive found that the german version with the old english dialogs.dv2 file did the same it was fixed by changing things in that file.

Quote
As anyone who has tried to play this game in english knows after the cutscene in character creation the game sticks inself into loading constantly and doesnt do anything. This fixed dialogs.dv2 files fixes that issue. copy it to \Divinity II - Ego Draconis\Data\Win32\Packed and replace the original dialogs.dv2 with this (back up the original first).

Then change the registry key for language to "English(US)". Then when you run the game you will be able to go past the cutscene following character creation and into the game itself. All voice acting remains in German but the subtitles are all in English.

Unfortunately it doesnt work with the english version of the game, because the game quits saying incorrect file version or something like that.

Was the first thing I tried. Put everything on low, turned off shadows, ect..ect.. and ran the game in
640 x 480. Still froze.

I tried removing the videos from the installation folder and that didn't do anything either.
