I know how it is possible to run this great game in widescreen.

This was posted in the WSGF;
In the root game directory go into the "Run" folder. Open the file "config.div" with a text editor. You will see the following...
// display width
width ****
// display height
height ****

Now while this works fine for me and my 1680x1050 resolution I have a problem.
The journal automap does not display any icons. This is a known problem over in the WSGF forum.

What this means is that you cannot click on the icon that allows you to insert your own marker flag.
For me that is a major problem as I really find the ability to make personal marker flags a necessity to remember where quests started and important places to return to are.

Does anyone know of a way to make the marker flags appear. If that was possible then it would mean that the game was almost perfect in widescreen and I could then replay it all over once again. smile

thanks for any help

Shameless bump.

Even if someone could work out how to make a hotkey for making marker flags....that would work smile

Sorry for the triple post.

but I have found out that Larian has re-released the game available for digital download and it supports 1680x1050 resolution.

So for $6 I downloaded it and it works fine. smile

Considering I bought the game when it was first released for $100 I think its now a bargain. silly

Glad you were able to find a work around wink

I'm running it at 1680x1050 and luckily haven't run into your issue (/knocks on goblin skull) wink

Good hunting!

Strange, is that with the original 3 cd version?
Anyhow its good you dont have the automap problem.

I'm very happy anyway. $6 for the digital version that officially supports widescreen and now has all the bugs fixed is great value.

A little side note. Try running the game in 1440x900. I found 1680x1050 zoomed out the game just a bit too far on my 22" monitor.
Running in the smaller resolution (which keeps the 1:6 aspect ratio) gives a much better zoom level imho. smile
