I got ver 1.32 and in the merchants' guild cellar many containers seem to be connected... whenever i open a contaniner, all of the sudden half the containers on the floor get the exact same items inside of them, and more than that, if i take an item out of one container, the same item is taken out of all the other ones simultaneously (i can see that there's one les item in the contanier when my cursor moves over it), its as if they're.. connected o_O

10x for any help you might provide

I think the Larians were just conserving reference numbers for containers. There are a few barrels like this in Iona's dungeon by the entrance to the house of madness. If you move them around, it could give you easy access/transfer of some items at you home base and favourite merchants, etc.

ok.. but there's more than that

if you get into the room and move the cursor over container X it would say 2 items

then you'd move the cursor over container Y it would say 1 item

if you open X you'll see 2 items, and all of the sudde, the number of objects Y contains will *change* to 2 items, and those items will be identical to the ones in container X

but if you open container Y first, you'll get a *different* item, and X will all of the sudden contain that same item

so you basically have to "miss" an item

was kinna tough to explain, i hope i did a good job.. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

basically, the idea is that non-connected containers become connected, stepping on whatever was inside them before

I never noticed that. When I emptied the chests in the small building in the graveyard, they were all emptied, and I didn't realize they were connected until I picked up some dropped items, became encumbered, and dumped some stuff in a chest to finish off the area.

There is another glitch with some of the chests in the merchant's guild; some of them have zero weight when open. A couple people have also had problems with these disappearing (or just disappearing at night) when dropped in certain locations. One was gone just outside of a building, but could be seen and opened with Telekinesis from inside the building. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/suspicion.gif" alt="" />

i've got exactly the same situation like yours at the containers in the cellar of merchants guild.. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" />

..btw. i'm playing with v1.29 (since i realized problems with hotfix7 on my german version-about 1 year ago..or is this problem in the meantime already fixed? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> )

I had the same problem with chests disappearing in the courtyard of Stormfist castle! AFTER I'd filled them with everything i'd 'borrowed' <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> on a permanent basis from the castle grounds <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />. Luckily i'd saved not long before so i loaded and started it again. Now i still have two chests (empty) which i took from somewhere and dumped by the the Ars Magicana teleport which appear and disappear at will!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/alien.gif" alt="" />

I've had disappearing chests with the dark brown ones, that's why I kept stuff in barrels and took care not to be encumbered when picking up something out of a chest...
I had luck, one was invisible and I could activate it again - the next time it was gone - luckily enough NOT with vital quest items. Cupboards are safe, in my XP.
