Do you have any emulation software installed? (ie software that can create a virtual CD/DVD from an image or files on your hard drive)
Someone else had a problem after uninustalling Deamon Tools, until they cleared out some registry entries the uninstaller left behind.
If you have not installed anything like that (could have been a component of a software package) since the last time you played, then try contacting
Securom support. I believe they have a tool there to uninstall, update or install their drivers; maybe uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling would help.
Have you added / changed optical drives? If so, try booting into Safe Mode (hit F5 as Windows starts to load, or IIRC F8 for a boot menu), and in the Device Manager remove any entries for missing drives or any external drives that were connected at some point.
