Do you have any emulation software installed? (ie software that can create a virtual CD/DVD from an image or files on your hard drive)

Someone else had a problem after uninustalling Deamon Tools, until they cleared out some registry entries the uninstaller left behind.

If you have not installed anything like that (could have been a component of a software package) since the last time you played, then try contacting Securom support. I believe they have a tool there to uninstall, update or install their drivers; maybe uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling would help.

Have you added / changed optical drives? If so, try booting into Safe Mode (hit F5 as Windows starts to load, or IIRC F8 for a boot menu), and in the Device Manager remove any entries for missing drives or any external drives that were connected at some point.

Which version of the game do you have? The English DVD versions use Securom, at least.

Check if there are any files or folders left behind from Daemon Tools; that can also cause a problem.

Contact the publisher at the email/website listed in the manual. They would at least be able to refer you to the company that makes the copy protection they used, and should have some kind of procedure to handle problems like this.

Did you check the Daemon Tools website? They may have suggestions for working around copy protection conflicts or a guide to clearing out any remaining remnants of the program, etc.

Alkohol 120% is another no-no used by people that steal games/software, so make sure you do not have this program on your PC too, as it will conflict with SecuRom!

Bottom line... these types of programs used for pirating/stealing games should not be on your PC at all! ;-)

To be fair there are legitimate uses for those types of programs...
