Possible cellar key bug.

Early on in the game I came across what I think to be a bug.
Even though I have retrieved the key from Jacksons farm and have it in my inventory, I cannot open Derk the blacksmiths cellar door.

Is this a known bug?

it is the wrong key, the key to derk's cellar is somewhere else

The key you find in Jackson's farm opens the cellar there. You have to mindread Derk to get the key to his cellar.
