It seems like you have a background process called activemovie that screws the game. Can you disable this?

No I cant disable it. i think it may be a problome in WMP(windows media player )but i not know for sure if that's true .

Thanks for your help.

I'd love more feedback that will help resolve this problem.

Try to play any of the movies in the windows media player in the Data\Video folder of your installation, do they work?

In the options of the windows media player, in the tab 'Performance' you have a button 'Advanced'. In that dialog, disable 'High quality modus'. See if that helps.

I don't have a screen shot, but there's a dutch version of this solution here.

Also you can try to update your version Windows Media Player, which do you have?

Can you try run our support tool and send us the resulting rerport.xml to support@larian.com. Mention me in the mail.

You should write the exact error message (screenshot maybe ?), even if to you it makes no sense, it might help support.

I've got the same thing with these "activemovie windows". When the game starts, it closes to taskbar. When clicking on it, it turns on again. After this, when choosing skills it closes again but with "activemovie window" on the desktop. Possible solution was to reassign .WMV assosiations from KMPlayer i'm using to WMP 11, but it works once, or doesn't work at all. I've sent you report.xml. Hope it will help.
P.S. Why Divinity 2 ED worked fine even without .WMV assosiatied with WMP?
P.P.S. About codecs. KMPlayer uses it's own internal codec pack that doesn't affect system codecs AFAIK

High quality disabled. Windows Media Player version 11.0.5721.5268. I've already read this thread - http://www.larian.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=425021#Post425021 and tried everything mentioned there. Still nothing, though my WMV codec isn't broken.

Heh, funny thing. Game works fine when there's media player playing any type of video file at the background. And yes, playback is paused. It doesn't matter is it KMPLayer or WMP (I've got both) and what type of video (I tried AVI, MKV, MPEG4, etc.). I've found it ocasionally and it really works! So, any ideas? Actually, I'm glad it works, but still...

If you experience this issue, you can try the Direct Show Filter manager. You can restore the directx codecs with it (in the 'Troubleshooting' tab) or remove suspicious codecs.

It certainly helped people in this thread.
