This being the DKS/FoV Help forum, most people are already playing the new release. The D2:ED forum section is below the French and German DKS/FoV forum sections on the main forum page (there are '-' symbols to the right of each forum group you can use to collapse that group, to make it easier to follow the ones you are interested in).
The Hall of Echoes is the final section of D2:ED; the return to Aleroth is at the beginning of the add-on.
If you get FoV for PC you can install it and continue with your current character. With DKS there were too many changes to maintain saved game compatibility, though you can start a new level 35 character at the beginning of the add-on section.
There is also a (large) D2:ED+FoV to DKS patch on PC, which you could install after your current character, if you want to try the remastered D2:ED section with a different build.
