In the FoV escort mission, they ARE sending something to clear the way - YOU. Your goal is to be the thing which will clear the way for the escortee. If you do that properly (see link for details), it will take very little damage until the end when the tower density is too high for the dragon to kill.

In order to leave "something" the shield had to go down.
Ships in docks? Vulnerable. If they weren't launched as soon as the shield went, would you think they survived the attack that would target them?

Sounds reasonable, no?

The "bomb" is given for a reason.

Well, if you take the bomb, then you'll also release ... the one who shouuldn't be mentioned without spoilers ... wink

And why do you release him, then ? To have to battle him lster ? For even more loot and even more experience points ?

No, I say, the plat HAS a reason why it gives the player the chance NOT to iuse the bomb ...

You get the "bomb" regardless of your choice at the end.

So no excuses for not using it in the escort mission.

I like this quest it wasn't bad at all. I loved the party where all your Dragon spells and amped up. And then you have a new spell which is pretty much a nuke. It was fairly easy, and you cn go ahead of the zeppelins, but not very far.

Agreed, it was easy until the last part where the zep took too much damage at once. The cooldown on your nuke spell seemed too long and if it was a little shorter it would be better. Personally I disliked the escort mission (I hate them with a passion) but I wouldn't say it ruined the game. I had to do the escort mission 6 times failing right at the last moment in most cases before I got to the final battle. I was at level 46 when I had finished the game and found the final battle when in human form much easier.

My only complaint was the expansion was too much ground based and not enough dragon but Larian have already explained why that is so I'm happy. They listen to feedback so the next game should be even better.

So, no protecting of NPC's or items and if they die / break you loose & no time limits in future games please? The Bellegar challenges on time limits were a pain too particuarly if you got them early into the game and didn't have adequate exp or stats.

As far as escort missions go, I thought this was one of the most satisfying I've ever played. If you methodically cleared out everything in front, the zeppelin was in no danger at all until the end, and the mission ended just at the point when there was too much to deal with at once.

True.

Although next time do a variation.

<50% health; the current method of "can't hold it"
>50% health; An alternative. Like how they are protected against incoming projectiles, so the original plan doesn't work, so they sacrifice themselves because of that instead.

And the nuke cooldown seemed pretty low to me, for it's effect.

Its sad. a good game I will not be able to finish. The last mission is impossible for me. I player it over 30-35 times and the ship alaways goes down near the same spot in the game.
If I had known that an escort mission was the game ending part, I would have never bought the game.

Did you lower the difficulty? There are a couple links above with suggestions...

Are you playing the PC or XBOX version? I can't speak for how the XBOX version controls, but the PC version shouldn't be impossible as long as focus on eliminating all the towers quickly, and use your nuke spell strategically.

I honestly didn't have that much trouble with escort mission- and i'm play DKS on my 360. i had all my dragon armor from Ego Draconis (well most of it, didn't have Snigglefrack's Helm- or whatever his name was).
i had trouble near the end on my first run because i didn't know my armor was in my inventory- and the zeppelin kept getting frakked. so reloaded a save, equipped my armor at the start and just went balls-to-the-walls.

saved the "mega-nuke-fireball" for Lightning Tower/Nest Tower surrounded by ballista and took out the lone ballista with Fireball/Firebreath.
and when prompted, i had the Zeppelin attack a lone Nest Dias when they could.

the only real problem came- was when i sided with Bhelrin- and had to fight him, Yggerna, and a demon all at the same time after the Escort mission.

Flipping Hell. The end mission was easy for me. I've passed it twice.
