I just want to know if Dragon Commander story has more than 1 ending ? And if so, how many possible endings the story will have?
And are there side story quests to do ?

Before I can become aware of any potential answers, I shall take this opportunity to speculate wildly and say that there probably will be. Yes, they could have one ending, but considering the variety of ways you are apparently able to take over Rivellon (a variety, I admit, that consists mostly of rumours, hints and stuff I probably made up in my head), that one, single ending would have to be an incredibly generic "You became Dragon Emperor! Congratulations!".

Instead, I think a more... segmented... ending might be appropriate, similar to the slides of Fallout and Dragon Age: Origins or, indeed, the ending clips from Overlord or Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires or, perhaps, the voice-over from Alpha Protocol. Short sections dealing with your various decisions over the game welded into your somewhat personalised ending. For example, ending segments could be based on such things as...

Did you forge alliances with other Dragon Knights?
If yes, were you true to them or backstabbed them whenever it was convenient?
Did marry a princess? If yes, which one?
Did you remain loyal to a single princess or did you marry and divorce based on expediency?
Did you obey your princess' every whim or ignore her completely? Or something in between?
Did you try to maintain as much harmony as you could between the various races of Rivellon or did you set out to commit genocide on the elves or something?
If you are allowed to make roleplaying decisions on how you rule your territories, were you a benevolent ruler or did you squeeze the population for every last bit of gold? If you were lenient here and tyrannic there, did you tend to go easy on your imp subjects, but oppress the subjugated elves with an iron fist?

And so on and so forth, ultimately ending with, of course, "You became Dragon Emperor! Congratulations!"

As to WotanAnubis' extrapolation on how the story works in Dragon Commander, you're definitely thinking in the right direction, but the fact of the matter is that we're still discussing ourselves exactly how we'll do it. One thing is for sure - the idea is that the campaign is open, you make many decisions, they impact how things pan out for you.

That was fun and enlightening, thank you. Though I do note that the one question even I'm getting sick of asking hadn't actually been answered.

Also, if the look of the White Dragon was based on a dragonfly, what animal was the look of the black dragon based on (if it was based on anything other than a T-Rex, that is)?

I'm guessing the male/female option is still in consideration.

Well, it shouldn't be. The only time it's still sort of grudgingly allowable to take away this kind of choice in RPGs is if the protagonist is a set character with a set personality telling a somewhat specific story. And even it's debatable. Even though Mass Effect's Shepard doesn't have that much of a personality, this otherwise predefined character walking through a pretty predefined story can still be either a man or a woman.

But this project sounds a lot more freeform. You know, take over the world in whatever way you like, doing pretty much whatever you want. A game as flexible as Dragon Commander seems to going to be has no excuse to restrict player choice like that.

Except for budget and time constraints. Those are pretty good excuses. Although, if budget and time restrict you to making a game with only one gender for the lead, why should it default to male? But that's an entirely different rant.

I... erm... I have some pretty strong feelings on this topic as you may have noticed. I apologise if I came across as rude or overbearing.

Sounds like my question about ground combat has been answered. They say they are putting stuff on the ground soon, so hopefully that means we get to either land as a dragon and fight with our claws or something, or it means we can take human form and fight down there.

As a female gamer myself I'm all for having the option to play as a female Dragon knight & I agree it's a bit annoying how most companys make set genders in there games & there male 95% of the time. The Female gamer population maybe small but we are still here I hope we do get the option to create a female Dragon Knight form DC.

You may want to check out "King's Bounty - Armored Princess" while you wait for Dragon Commander.

And as a male gamer myself I also like it to play as a FEmale heroïn !!
So I strongly recommended the devs make female dragons/dragon knights to play with in DC

As a male, I like being male! But in honesty, I don't mind if we get to choose our character's gender. I've only made one female hero in Divinity 2 though. Call me old fashion but I prefer the powerful hero of the world to be a male...

Anyway, moving the topic to answered questions:


Who else is kind of excited by the possibilities? So few games let you run your own empire and those that do only let you do so in an abstract, detached kind of way (think Civilization).

I'm hoping that, while it probably won't be the major focus of the game, the opportunity to make decisons on how to run your territory sounds like it could be fun. Provided, of course, there is no one 'best' way to rule. It would also be fun to see if the way you run your empire also affects how the other contenders for the imperial throne view you.

I like those possibilities too WotanAnubis That wil be fun, I'm sure !

I'm positive towards female "heroes" as well - because of the "equal ri(gh)tes" thing.

I guess that in 10 or 20 years we'll have gay characters as well, in an the following 10-20 years after that there'll finally be handicpped people as well.

Besides of all that, human "races" are long overdue. Skin colour should imho be customizable as well.

One question that hasn't been asked, is : Can we play the white, dragonfly-based Dragon, too ? And other kinds of dragons as well ? Call me nuts, but I prefer to have a choice in that matter as well (and I clearly prefer colourful - lighthearted versions over dark & gritty ones).

I'd like a kind of Fable situation, where the look of your Draconic self depends on the choices you make ('what kind of person you are/play as').

But I realise that may be hard to implement, so getting to pick the basic look of your dragon during character creation would be quite acceptable as well.

All those Idea's sound awsome & fun but (for me at least) I know whatever Larian choose to put in there game I'm going to like it. I have'nt played one of there games yet that I haven't liked

Well for the gay character thing we already see those in a famous franchise... Fable. So it's only time before all equalities are brought out.

The morality affecting your dragons looks would be a bit troublesome for me since I like to go for the standard jet-black with red look or something evil looking but my characters are always far cry from evil.

And I wouldn't mind playing as a Dragon...ess? But it will be amazing running your own caompaign and reigon... now wait until we have that plus a standard online multiplayer fight for dominance.

Now on the more important factor for me, ahs this game been announced for xbox or just pc?

No, don't do the gay thing, please... Although Alrik is correct about the equal rights thing, homosexuality just does not seem right in games to me.

The game has been announced officially for the PC but not the Xbox yet but clearly the screenshots and videos were taken on an xbox. Also Larian said they have it running at 55fps on an Xbox360 so it seems they have every intention of releasing it on that platform. It's up to Microsoft to let them.

Fable... Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Fallout: New Vegas, Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines, GrimGrimoire, maybe Persona 4...

And, of course, Divinity 2: The Dragon Knight Saga.
(OK, I'm kind of joking with that one, but since the Mindread demonstration allowed your female Dragon Knight to think about just how cute her mindreading teacher was and since that is pretty much the only point in the game where the PC is capable of expressing any kind of sexuality, the female PC can be established as lesbian or bisexual, but not so much straight. Also, Madam Eve.)

True. I forget about those characters as well. And I play most of those games too.

So have they answered what this game will be released on? Like pc, xbox, etc?

DC will be released on PC and unannounced console(s). It was demoed on an Xbox, but can not be officially announced until MS approves it.

Well microsoft better approve it if they don't they'll have a terrorist on their hands... his demands... let my people experience dragon commander.

You won't be the only terrorist, they'll have to deal with me burning down there office in Dragon Form lol

Nah I'll just soul bound myself to the lead microsoft man... if it's not bill gates, and then raze the place in drogonic form, necromance the dead people and proceed with mental torture while their in my claws.

It will be also fun that in DC there come a Dragon Skill like 'Charm', that will be great fun !!

Anothe3r thing that came to my mind and which I would have asked :

Will ground troops be affected by falling debris ?

"Ground General to High Command : We've lost Battallion Blue due to a huge part of the enemy's fortress flattening it !"

that would be awsome if they put it in there

-When the beta testing will start for Dragon Commander?
-What languages are definitely coming in the release version?
-If the game is going to be using the same sort of engine as Divinity 2?
