After today I am leaving the forum. I need a job, and while checking the forum doesn't preclude looking for one, it is too attractive a means of procrastination, and the time I spend here really needs to be redirected to a more aggressive job search.

Good luck with the job hunt! You've helped so many people here, you'd really deserve to be paid for all the things you've done in the Larian forums up

Unfortunately, Larian does probably not have enough money to hire you permanently, but you'd be a great professional mod smile

Good luck with your job hunting and thanks for the help & info you gave me and many others on this forum. I hope you find exactly what you are looking for and have a successful career.

Don't know what it's like in Canada but in the UK unemployed people claiming benefit have to go to the DWP office every 2 weeks and provide evidence that you are activley looing for work. Failure to provide at least 3 job aplications per week may result in stoppage of your benefit. When I was unemployed (I'm self employed now as I couldn't find work) going to the DWP office was an experience and a half. You sit amongst mainly ronkers and 14 year olds with 4 kids and subjected to a demoralising 'interview' then handed your paltry pittance upon sufficient 'evidence' then told to come back in two weeks. After 3 months they find you a job which could be anything and if you refuse to take it you get no benefit at all.

Thanks everyone.

Arokh;
I have not looked at any assistance programs yet. If I need to, 3 applications a week is barely looking at all. As humiliating as it would be, I think the process is easier in Canada (at least based on the odd news story on government waste, etc). I've already lowered my standards to just about anything, and need to concentrate on application volume.

Lar;
Email sent.

BTW, my existing email address (in my profile) is valid and should remain so for the foreseeable future. I disabled PMs because returning to the forum to answer one (if I left email notifications on) would undoubtedly lead to going through the rest of the forum, as well. I don't mind email, though, if anyone has a question on hex editing DD/BD saves, or something.

ForkTong;
I have mentioned Larian in cover letters and resumes for jobs utilizing related skills. I'm getting a very low response rate, though, so I'm guessing I'm over qualified for crappy jobs and not quite qualified enough for good ones.

Seems to be my problem as well. I ended up going self employed and doing contract work. Which is really nice because I can have as many holidays as I want, take them when I want and if I don't want to do a job / contract I don't have to. If I feel like playing on the playstation all day instead of going to work I can do. Although at the moment I have got a cushy contract with good money at a major UK electrical company and I'd like to keep them happy. I'm working on getting employed by them permanently.

Farewell Raze though I wonder...will we see you again when Dragon Commander releases? I hope we one day meet again here because you truly were a value to the community.

Cry not though people for good man Demonic is still here and Joram's evil twin - Jorom - is still here too.
