Hello everyone

Bought DD off Steam last week and am loving it so far. Playing a female warrior at the moment but have also started a survivor and mage just to see how they work out. Warrior seems easiest so far.

Anyway, to the point:

1. I saw on a FAQ that you get the lizard teleport scroll from the lizard in the first village (Goemoe?) after you complete the catacombs and bring sanity to Marandus (I'd previously healed both patients with healing gems). However, no scroll was given but I do get Restoration after healing the patients.

Is this in fact correct? Do I get the scroll from him? If so, what have I done wrong?

2. To a minor matter but which is irritating me. When I want to pick up an object, such as the 2nd teleporter stone in the catacombs, it states that I click on the object, hold the left mouse button down, and drag it to my inventory (which I've previously opened). Instead, when I move to the inventory box the character moves to the mouse pointer and I have to click on the teleporter stone again. What is frustrating is that it occasionally works and I am able to drag the stone into the inventory.

Is there something I am missing?

Thank you.

You need to leave Aleroth, head south and encounter Zandalor before you get the option to ask Goemoe about the teleporter scroll.

You need to be close to an object to pick it up. If you are too far away your character will move to the object, or if it is not recognized as an attempted drag and drop, do the standard move in the direction of the mouse cursor when the left mouse button is held down.

You can drag and drop an item to the menu bar on the bottom of the screen to place it in your inventory (though opening the inventory window does let you control exactly where it is placed).

Thanks Raze.

1. Went back to Aleroth village then remembered all healers were needed in Rivertown. No trace of Goemoe (or Otho) there.

Any idea where he may be?

2. Tried standing next to, eg teleporter stone, so my character wouldn't move but she still does. Oh well, one of those things I guess.

Two other questions if I may, keep finding single arrows around the place. Any significance as arrows aren't needed for bows?

Secondly, where are the locations of the other teleporters? For ewample, explored all round Cursed Abbey but couldn't find the one listed on scroll, but did find the Graveyard one which was practically next door.

(Edit: spelling mistakes)

1. Sometimes Otho, Goemoe and other NPC's walking out or in their houses. Otho go looking at his 2 pigs (for example).

Secondly : The Teleporter at the Cursed Abbey is at the courtyard of the Abbey, so go through the first gate (at the southern side) ... and a little bit further you will find the Teleporter wink
But beware of angry 'Steel Warriors & Rangers' !

The healers move to the Blue Boar inn after the escort quest is done, with just Mardaneus remaining in Aleroth. Lanilor is in the north west room behind the bar and kitchen area, Joram is by the bar and Otho/Goemoe in a couple of the inn rooms. If you progress far enough in the main plot quest, Geomoe will eventually leave the inn, and you will need to talk to the healers and do something else to find where he went.

If you stand, or teleport, next to a teleporter stone, you should easily be able to pick it up. It sounds like you have trouble picking up other items like this (letters, chests, etc).
Do you have any problems drag and dropping in Windows? I once had a left mouse button start to go flaky, where left button presses would occasionally not be recognized, or would register as double clicks (very annoying when you are trying to move 50 files and Windows decides to open them all). It started getting worse, so I took the mouse apart and noticed a notch worn in the plastic tab on the button over the sensor; I filled the notch with epoxy, let it dry, put the mouse back together, and haven't had a problem since.

The arrows are just for atmosphere.

OK I'll try the Blue Boar Inn. Thanks for this.

I should have mentioned I did search their homes in the first village before remembering they had gone off to Rivertown.

I did go into, and around, the courtyard in the Cursed Abbey (not in the Abbey, as it says somewhere it's best to be in the level 20s to enter) but didn't find it. However, there is a spot on the main map in the NW corner which looks like a teleporter but is hidden by a building. I did try to walk all over that part of the courtyard but nothing happened. Is that where it is?

So far, it is only the teleporter stones and those hay stacks (to make a portable bed) that I have trouble picking up (although I now have a straw bed in my inventory to use). If I can pick things up using the ALT key there's no problem.

As for the mouse, I play on a laptop and use a mouse because I coudln't get used to the touchpad thingy. It's about 2-3 years old so might treat myself to a new one to see if that improves the control.

Anyway, thanks again for helping a newbie. Much appreciated and hope you won't mind a few more questions if necessary.

For the cursed abbey, did you just walk around the outside of the building, inside the fence? From the front entrance, you need to follow the path north through a passage between two walls to get to the courtyard.

Wow, you're quick Raze.

Just logged on to say I have already found the Cursed Abbey teleporter but thank you. The only teleporters I haven't got are: Elven Ruins, Warrior's Guild, Imp's Deserted Castle, Dwarven Halls and Council of Seven. I'm assuming they must all be in the Dark Forest as I've practically uncovered most of the map.

Couple of other questions have arisen. Unsure to open a new thread or not but here goes...

1. Finding objects with 'Hearing + 1' on them. I can hear enemies anyway, is there some significance I haven't thought of?

2. Could I ask evryone what your strategies are concerning the runes or whatever you call them that gives minor, medium and large bonuses to armour and weapons? I've been wearing a piece of armour since the beginning that has only 40 AC and minor bonuses, but with space for 3 charms. I haven't found any other armour with more spaces for charms.

What I've been doing is putting minor runes on equipment with only one space for charms.

Thanks.

The archer's guild teleporter is near the archer's guild, in the south west of Rivertown, near the entrance to the Dark Forest. The council hall and the teleporter there can be reached after you have been to the castle, get out and do another couple main plot quests. The rest of the teleporters you listed are in the Dark Forest.

Hearing enemies from a little further away can give you an idea of what is ahead sooner. It certainly wasn't my most sought after bonus, but it can be occasionally helpful.

If you have equipment that is good enough you think you will be using it for awhile (dragon armour, etc), I would only use silver or gold charms. I saved most charms until I had better equipment, but by the time that happened I didn't really need the extra bonus. I used 1 gold strength charm (a lucky drop by the dragon rider that Zandalor kills south of Aleroth) in my Amulet of Glory (from the catacombs) when I explored past the castle and fought the knight that drops a two handed bastard sword (I needed to go up a level and use the charm to meet the requirements).
At the end of the game I had 66 gold / very large charms (6 from before entering the final area; the rest were about half loot and half purchased), 59 silver / large charms, 24 red / medium charms, 19 blue / minor charms and 1 green / weak charm.

Oops sorry Raze.

Just edited my post to say I had found the Archer's Guild teleporter. I was in that area and stumbled over it and haven't a clue how I managed to miss it as it's in plain sight. Bah.

As I said, I haven't found any armour with more than 3 charm spots. I have just one large rune with a vitality bonus, 5 medium runes with various bonuses and the rest are minors.

I'm now level 22, does it depend on level on the runes you get?

Also my armour that has only 40 AC and negligible bonuses but 3 charm spots, what would you suggest I put on it? Minor runes and hope I get better armour later on?
