I can't deliver Hugh's grain bill. I have the quest and the bill, but when I talk to Hugh, all he will talk about it the poisoned harvest, but I completed that quest for him a while ago.

Think I'm giving up on this game for a while. I'm tired of random crashes and broken quests.

That doesn't sound like that big a deal; you just get a paltry amount of XP when you solve the quest anyhow. Play on; as soon as you get to the wastelands, your quests clear out anyhoo.

You will rue the day you opposed me! Begin your rueing! I'll just... sit over here... and watch.

Aurora, I guess you had missed the cutscene at the poor quarters, quarantine section (Elrath came out). The soldier you speak to should have told you were E. normally lives. On entering his house (after getting the harvest quest, finding the barrels, speaking to barman Splinter, reporting to Hugh!!!) there should have been a speech option with E. about a stolen key.
But it's just a small side quest - same goes for the grain bill - you still can enjoy Penumbra

Nope, got all that.

This is my second time through the game. I was hoping to make it through without any broken quests, my first game had a bunch. But I give up. Maybe I'll try again after the patch, if it ever happens. I'm really very discouraged right now.

So, you're saying that if I talked to Elrath before unlocking the door with poison barrels etc., the quest is unsovlable?

I mean, awsome. It's just that nobody tells you anything about some caves or things like that, but they all talk about Doc's house and mark it on your map. And I probably wouldn't even go there if there was a single merchant anywhere else in the first place...... After the cutscene, he says he's going home. What's the logical next step? What kind of scripting is that anyway?

I need your order, how you did it. You can enter the E.'s house via lockpick, as often as you wish, as long as you don't take the letter in the cellar - this triggers the final cutscene with Elrath.
Are you encountering the same problem as Aurora: Hugh and the harvest/grain bill quest?

Hi, thanks for the reply.
First, I got the quest about the harvest. Then, I saw the cutscene in front of the closed area in the poor district. I went to his house, and he left, locking the door, and it remains locked (he's not inside). I didn't reenter the house at all. I saw the poison barrels in the cellar, but was unable to open the door. I didn't go to the cave at all, and have no quest that would point me to it (or the barrels, just the geeral plague quest and the harvest quest). There was no dialogue option to talk about the matter when I talked to Splinter. I have no grain bill, nor a clue where to find one. So, is it messed up or not? (I'm not looking for spoilers, just a hint about whether I should stop trying).
And, um, folks, sorry about the flipping out in my last message...... Is there a thread about how NOT to break other quests? I seem to have done it already with Homer and the trolls, by talking to Trisha first..... I'm not a powergamer, and I'm not a person who would complain abut the bugs. However, denying the gratification of completing the quests is another thing altogether.....

I don't think there is a clue directing you to the cave, you just have to explore the farmlands to find it. Particularly for this quest, there can be more information in the quest log than you actually see yourself or find out through conversations. There is a key just south of the doctor's house, but I would check out the cave, then the inn cellar with the poison barrels, etc. talking to Huge as you go.

Thanks, but I'm wondering whether the plague quest is broken since I talked to the doctor before going to that cave, and he left his house after that?

Nope, that would not break the quest. Even if you had waited until finding the cave, etc. to confront the doctor, he just claims he lost the key to the room in the cellar (with the poison barrels), and someone else must have found it. Just keep going with the quest, and search the house when your character has circumstantial evidence that the doctor is involved.

Well, let me tell you what I did.
I was still afraid to go to the darkforest and couldnt earn xp points to gain a alevel, so I was just randomly killing poor villagers without being caught by the guards.
I also killed Hugh *oops*
What happened was I solved the Elrath quest without any problem, and didnt complete the grain quest.
I was still able to finish the game- and enjoyed it very much.
Dont get discouraged on one pitiful quest, keep on solving the other ones.
