Hi all, i just had a look at "Divinity: Original Sin" Kickstarter Pre-Alpha Quick Look http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72DirM4gvTUWill there be no voice output? Is the game completely text based?

From what I understood it will be like Divine Divinity, where important parts are voiced and rest are text based

It would be nice if the main heroes have voices especially when making decisions

Larian said that there are multiple voice options you can choose for your main character. I suspect that means the main characters voices are only for occasional short clips like it was in Divinity 2.

Larian used to dub their dialogue in their games, I see no reasons why it would change for their best game ever...
"-Oh that's fullmoon, cuttie cuttie sheep -baaaaaaOOOOORGH" ***Sprotch***
Weresheeps will rule the world (At least one night every 29 days)

The problem with full voice-acting is that it's expensive, takes up a lot of space, and makes it much harder to revise and edit dialogue (since lines can't usually be changed once they've been recorded). If all the dialogue in the game were voiced, there'd probably be a lot less of it - and of course, it would make modding a good deal more difficult. I'm happy with the tradeoff of partial voice-acting.

a full-voiced game is better for immersion !!

To me, text has always been immersive to the max. Books and text-based games have always done wonders for me. I certainly don't need audio books to get my imagination running wild. In fact, sometimes, bad voice-acting can break the spell and ruin immersion. Guess this shows I'm old enough to remember a time of entertainment before VOed computer games.

a full-voiced game is better for immersion !! Nobody will disagree with that, Chaotica, but as said above: Voicing that much text ain't easy and is definitely not cheap. Have a look at popular, high budget rpg's known for rich dialog (Baldur's Gate, Dragon Age): They are also 'only' partially voiced.

Larian have clearly already sad that full voice acting is not going to happen, it's prohibitively expensive with the number of NPC's they have and the number of things they can say.
Divinity 2's voice acting was great, and I have high hopes for Dragon Commander as well, but this game is simply not going to have full voice acting, no matter how many people request it.

So I rather have some good voiceacting and only for the main story/cutscenes and tons of text dialogs

After a while, like in skyrim and many other games, you just read the text and skip halfway through the dialogue anyway.

I think it will be like DD some important scenes in Voice but the most time it will be text.

I think it will be like DD some important scenes in Voice but the most time it will be text. You are correct. The devs have stated this numerous times.
