The first chat issue (reminder) was that special characters don't work right (like <, >, $)

The second is a fellow was chatting (during combat) asking for help (shift enter). Late in the game I missed one of his message. When I bring up the message list (shift enter); i see the first few messages - no option to scroll (most system show the last few messages not first). Is there any method to see the most recent messsages ?
