I bought the game yesterday from steam. Installed it, couldn't turn it on. Had to download a dll. D3dx9_43 to be precise. Then it started up. Screen switched to black, and I caught a glimpse of the Dragon Commander arrow/mouse when suddenly the game stopped working.

sad

I'm running windows 7 64 bit with an Nvidia Geforce gtx 660M .2GB graphics card with an Intel Core I7 processor.

Any help you people can offer would be greatly appreciated. cheer

PS: The Beta was never installed, though it does appear on my Steam library is that needed for some reason?

PSS: I already installed the "graphic fix" that lets you run it on a window. It just says at that point that dragon commander is not responding with the screen just staying white

Try reinstalling DirectX 9, from the ..\SteamApps\common\Dragon Commander\_CommonRedist\DirectX folder.

The beta is not needed; I'm not sure why Steam is still including it with purchases after release.

I just checked my comp settings I have Direct X 11 would this be causing the issue? Went to the folders, ran DX setup to update files and such I'll come back if it doesn't solve the issue.

Glad you got it working.

DirectX 11 itself wouldn't cause a problem, but it is not backwards compatible with DirectX 9, and Windows 7 does not include 9 by default. Steam should have installed DirectX 9, but there were either issues doing that, or preexisting issues got fixed when you manually reinstalled.
