Hey guys.

I have a question.
I thought that larian started the whole kickstarter thing because they wanted to release D:OS on their own without any publisher. But on amazon and sides with informations about the game there is always "dadelic entertainment" listed as publisher?

They do not have a publisher, but they do have distributors - for localizing etc.

Well this is interesting, I can't even find it on Amazon. Of course I go to the US version of Amazon.

Can you post a link to where the game is on Amazon?

Every time there I run into trouble on the road, there is always a dwarf at the bottom of it. Don't they know how to drive above ground?

Considering their experiences of managing to have kept their independence, I think (hope) Larian are wiser than giving up their IP/royalty to publishers (They probably share a black list of publishers with other indie companies). The below are bit old entries about publisher-developer relationship.
Bad Banks
Why so many developers close their doors

As consumers, what we can do would be, to support indie companies through crowd-funding sites and distribution sites with, at least, decent policies.

Wow i knew it was bad as in being forced into what kind of games to make and how to make them.. but i didn't realize they were actually "cheats" as well in the legal sense.. wtf.

Yeah, publishers, always fun.

One of my cases to point that out would be Knights of the Old Republic II, where they got 3 months delay to work on it, but forgot to get it in writing, and then had nothing to stand on when those promised months suddenly got cut out from underneath them, leaving the game in a fairly unfinished state.

I would have been more positive of Kickstarter in the past, if it wasn't for me quickly noticing a lot of the 'backers' are equally horrifying, demanding and self-inflated.

In that case, self-publishing would be best... but it's very difficult. Even in the age of Steam, GOG and other DD's.

As Elwyn already stated, Daedalic is acting as their German distributor (localization, retail), not publisher, here.
