One idea is to reward both hybrid versatility and deep specialization. Hybrids have options, but specializing opens up unique talents. For example:

Searing Flames (Pyromancy 4): Your fire spells are so powerful that even creatures immune and resistant to fire still suffer damage. Immune creatures are treated as having 50% fire resistance, while creatures resistant to fire only consider half their resistance against fire spells.

That would pretty much ruin the burning legion specialty.

I dont think we need to go that far.

So you are complaining about a system you have not fully explored..

Rain spell you get a few scrolls of it in the start and the merchant sells a book.

There is a few ice spells sold. one is a single bolt of ice the other is like a burst of multiple ice shards hitting the targeted enemy or area. Summoning an ice elemental is also helpful in water.

Bolt of ice does not make an AoE ice effects. It only creates a very small ice spot. Barley enough to cover one meter of ground or less.
Enemies do avoid it and walk around it.

There is no spell that gives burst of multiple ice shards.

Ice elemental is level 9 spell. And you cant aim it at water and make it create AoE surface. It just does that when it dies.

Seems to me you have no idea what you are talking about at all.
Quite funny seeing how you are in such a hurry to start every post of yours with various statements of others not knowing what they are talking about.

What game are you playing? one ice shard freezes a puddle area which is often large. There is an ice spell that does multiple bursts I just cannot remember it's name right now. I actually you know played the game and explored the magic system..try it.

You cannot specialize in only one school in this game because a lot of ennemies have immunities, even at the low levels of this beta. What can you do as a fire mage against the twins ?

What we lack in the early game is spells to give some support to the fighter. There is so much poison and fire surfaces in this game that the fighter cannot get close to targets without being affected by heavy conditions. And when he succeeds he is hit when the target dies leaving a poison or fire surface. This is what makes the spider so useful in the early game because you can use it as a tank and later when you can summon elementals you can use them as tanks too.

Agree highly... need more immunity/shield spells early.

Your warrior wants that sweet Meteor spell? Now he actually has to earn it, instead of spending one point in Fire and ignoring it for the rest of the game.

Highly agree here as well ... like skill requirements for learning spells.

You do need high inteligence to learn higher level spells.

Yes but would like to see "specialized" spells/skills that require more points into certain skill/school for more specialization instead of skill points only allowing you to learn more of a certain school.. don't know if i'm saying it right or not.

Meteorstrike, a level 19 spell, requires you to have 12 Int to learn. At level 9, I have 15 Int (12 base, 1 Know it All, 2 gear).

Honestly, the level requirements are unneeded; all you need are the skill and ability requirements. Skill gating works better than level gating, two people with equal Intelligence should not have the access to the same level of spells if one has 5 Fire and the other 2 points in the skill.

Exactly... the person with more points in water should have better water skills.. not just the ability to learn more.. this new system is flawed and i hope they revert to a skill point based system..

You are, thats not a bad idea at all.

It could be one of the possible options to make investing points into any skill actually as valuable as just diversifying into many because current setup of just getting more slots - while you can change the learned skills in them more or less as you please - is to weak as an incentive.

I dont mind level requirements themselves.

But i would like to see more use given to skill levels themselves, except just getting more slots open.

Maybe a new thread about this would be better then to derail this one....

How about if higher skill gives you bigger ice surfaces, eh? No matter what spell you use for it.
That would be nice.
