There a couple of quests in Silverglen and Black Cove involving Star Stones that requires Pet Pal, but neither are mandatory. You can get the Star Stone regardless, you just don't the extra quest XP from talking to the animals. The cat in the Inn starts the Black Cove one and Alfie in Luculla Forest starts the other one.

As for the other posters' suggestion to avoid Charisma, it depends on what your end goal is. If you want to maximize XP gain, the best path is actually to successfully negotiate the charisma option to gain the full Charisma XP and then slaughter them all afterwards to get the combat XP.

Don't put Charisma or Pet Pal on henchies.

Barter IS nice, you should save all your +barter equipment and consider investing 1 point on your barter character (it's a small price). There are some end game vendors that sell very, very nice things for lots and lots of gold. I have over 100K on standby but a transaction can easily go over 60K for 2-3 nice pieces of equipment.

Do not sell back Tenebrium weapons to vendors who can't handle Tenebrium. They will get the rot and die, meaning you will no longer be able to trade with them.

You should know there is a way to do *huge* amounts of damage using Telekinesis. It's kind of an exploit right now, but the option is there if you want to go for it.

Just a heads up, the Teller of Secrets or whatever she's called stocks the attribute and ability bonus books more frequently than every time you level up. I've been returning to the Homestead several times between levels and been able to purchase them. It feels a bit like cheating though, so I will actually stick to once per level from now on. I have no idea what triggers her restocking her inventory though.

The next that I have to do in my log is go after Evelyn and that will lead me to the third stone, right? For the two other stones you mentioned, Silverglen and Black Cove, what quests will lead me in that direction? Where would I pick them? They will point those sites in the map or I will need to explore by myself?

The mentioned stones are all on Cyseal map ... one is just lying on the road near exit to lucella wood (where silverglen is located). You can grab it right from the start without fighting, if you use some kind of invisibility (for me it was the scoundrel start skill "Walk In Shadows" on my warrior). The blood stone in black cove is mentioned by some orcs camping in front of the entrance to black cove. But its best to use invisibility to sneak past them ... they give to much XP and could push you to far. There is no Quest that points you directly to go to the black cove, normally you get there by exploring. There you need to go to the lower level and kill a ghost pirate, which has a blood stone in a chest on his ship. The last stone needs you to complete most main quests on Cyseal map ... to get to evelyn you need to go through the cave where Fabulous Five / Arhus Experiment takes place. The cave entrance is guarded by enemies, but here you can also just use invisibility to get past them. Evelyn drops a amulet, which is needed to get access to Braccus Rex in the church. To get there, also use invisibility to get past the insane wizard and the undead on the cementary.

By thinking about this, you don't exactly need the stone from Braccus Rex ... you can use any stone. It should by possible to slip into lucella forest, sneak your way to the goblin village, destroy their totem, grab the blood stone and then use the flee from combat option. This way you can avoid 1-2 Level-ups. Also i can't remember if the chest from the ghost pirate was locked / needs a key ... if not, you could also sneak past him and steal the stone. This way it could be possible to get all 5 stones at around Level 4.

A Knight + mage spells combined with a pure mage in a Lone Wolf run works perfectly (based on my experience from the beta at least).

A couple of thoughts:
- Consider giving the mage water spells instead of the Knight as a Knight has their warrior heal to full. That way both have a heal. Fire has some really nice melee spells, so that would work well with a melee character in my opinion
- I would invest in crafting as well. With crafting you can improve heavy armor and thus change the penalty to movement for the Knight to a bonus instead. It really helps with movement in combat

For anyone who hasn't realized yet:
-you can visit the Teller of Secrets after each level up and she will sell more stats and abilities boosting books. You can get much more points to spend that way.

How much do those books cost though? Assuming you can kill the absolute minimum and get all 5 stones by level 4, will you even be able to afford a book?

I guess you can get a handsome amount of gold just by collecting paintings, golden plates and cups from Black Cove/Cyseal/other areas I haven't reached yet.

Oh by the way. A quick way to kill the ghost pirate is to get 1 or 2 points in telekinesis (depending on how many you need to be able to put barrels in your inventory), get scoundrel on both your characters, sneak one to the ghost. With the other one, sneak to all the oil barrels you can find and pass them from your inventory to your other character.

Then, congregate with your other character who should have a good 10+ oil barrels lying around him.

Now surround the pirate with these barrels using your telekinesis character.

The explosion should insta kill him. Then just sneak away to avoid fighting the skeletons. Don't forget the bloodstone in the chest!

Note: This method is not tested! When I did it I had used up quite a few barrels so I only had 3 more for that fight, which reduced him to about 50% health. I am just assuming that ~10 barrels would easily insta-kill.

EDIT: I just thought of something. Couldn't you get companions and have them do all this dirty work? If your other characters are far, do they still get xp? At least you could kill off ONE of your main characters so s/he doesn't get xp.

I could always afford them, but then again, I loot stuff like crazy. They cost around 20k total without any high bartering skills.

So... How to get 20k gold at level 4 without levelling up? xD

Get lucky with some pickpocketing gear and steal the world dry? That'd take quite a while though.

I don't quite remember, but I think that those 5 stones that you can find on Cyceal map are not enough to open her room. So that means you'll be around 8-10th level when you complete the map anyway.
So just play the game normally, level up, loot everything and when you get to her hopefully you'll have enough for your first batch of books.

It's a soft cap. My last party was nearing 22nd level at the end of the game. Depends on how thorough you are. Killing all optional mobs also helps a lot, because this game doesn't give you xp for alternatives like sneaking around them, which is an oversight, imho. Good killing grounds are - Troll King's cave (you even get an achievement for offing the king and later talking to Archibald), goblins up to the mines, Goblin camp (might as well, cuz there's a blood stone underneath the totem) and all those Immaculates camps in Hiberheim and the mines even if you rock-paper-scissored them to peace.

I've made a list of the most useful talents in my opinion, what do you think people?

For a warrior:
Lone Wolf
Opportunist
Thick Skin
Picture of Health
Comeback Kid
Sidewinder
Weather Storm (+10 magic res really worth 1 talent)

Avoided:
Stand y Ground (anti-knockdown really worth 1 talent? )
Leech (I don't know if it worth 1 talent, can I really heal enough over my own blood? )

For a rogue-mage:
Lone Wolf
Pet Pal
Glass Cannon
Far Out Man
Voluble Mage
Guerilla (I don't know if would be profitable it, to start all combats sneaking with a bow)
Swift Footed (I don't know if 20% movement bonus worth it)

Avoided:
Back-Stabber (I could not use it often enough to justify it)
Escapist (I don't know how to use this)
Stench (is good enough? )

What about the one talent that lets you avoid FEAR? I got tired of having my team running away so I finally just picked it for all of them.

You can get immunity to fear from the trait "Spiritual" ... no need to waste a talent point on this (for your main characters).

With enough armor the amount of healing is greater than the amount of damage you received. On other characters (with less armor, like a mage) the amount of damage reduction is also remarkable. Also you can easily heal back to full health in one round by casting "bloodletting" on your character (video). The skills "draw blood" and "lacerate" have also great synergies with the leech talent. In combination with "comeback kid" you also can not be killed by physical attacks. Because of "comeback kid" you are reduced to 1 HP and the next attack would kill you, but "leech" heals some HP so that on the next attack "comback kid" also applies (video).

Simple question: if a monster give 100xp, i'll be 100 exp for everyone or 100xp divided equally the party members?

low-leveling to hit 5 star stones as fast as possible is now rather pointless

this got also patched, the talent now only give +5% per MaA-Skilllevel

but the overpowered leech "bugs" (see last post) are still in the game
