I'm stuck, I just killed Bellagar because I felt like it with a party of lvl 10 characters (just blind/frost spammed him and surrounded him with summons - 10% hit rate otherwise)

But I'm at a lost which is more rewarding - to let him live and apparently recieve a reward later in the game, or just enjoy the whooping 9000XP and loot?

Killing Bellegar ? WHAT INSANITY IS THIS ?

How... how can you dare do something as cruel as that ?
It's even beyond madness, fear, hate, I can't fond the words for that !

To discuss this by way of example:

If you're a dirty rotten cheater, and you mute/freeze/stun the 9th level cultist wizard outside the tutorial dungeon - and kill him before he has a chance to speak - then "Protect the Stone; I'll handle these vermin." never triggers.

Kill his 5th-level guards and carry on: nobody has a stone, subsequent conversations and events still play out with no changes.

There's no reason for Larian to cover off this case. Anyone who does it is already deliberately working outside the story, and has no kick if they aren't accommodated.

Killing Bellegar may work out the same way. In his case, it doesn't even really break anything: do you expect somebody like Bellegar to stay dead? Really?

Well I kinda figured Maxos sealed him in with 4 demons for a reason, alright I'll keep him alive - but nice to know I can kill him at lvl 10 heh

Killing beloved Bellegar is not nice.
Losing even more experience is the price.
Breaking future content? You're rolling the dice.
Did not the allure of later rewards entice?

Now you come to the forums for advice.
So heed our words, we shall make them concise.
Load your game! Only that shall suffice.

If I read correctly, Maxos sealed him in because he's an annoying... um...Bellegar, and the demons were already there, so five birds with one stone.

I expect that later content will not acknowledge that you killed him, so there you go. Roll the bones, as our new Laureate just said.

(Though to balance the structure, it should be said twice.)
