Decided to play BD after many years only now I have Win 7 so I downloaded patch 1.49 which shows as version 1.47 on loading screen. Now my inventory in screwed. clicking on an item changes it to another item and nothing will attach to the character or goes into the wrong place. I posted this earlier but it didn't seem to go through. I apologize if this is a duplicate.

With the disk version of the game, in Vista or later you need to run it in Win 9x compatibility mode to avoid that problem with equipment becoming corrupt. Unfortunately, this only helps with a new game; once the corruption starts switching to a compatibility mode will not fix or limit the problem.
Right click on the div.exe file in the install folder, or a shortcut for the game, and select properties, then switch to the Compatibility tab and select a compatibility mode there (and maybe check off to run as administrator and disable display scaling on high DPI settings).

That version number behaviour is normal; the game itself wasn't changed between 1.47 and 1.49, just the DRM removed.

Your post count is still one, so the earlier try must not have gone through.

Thank you, Raze. I assume by Win 9x you mean the Win 98/ME compatibility setting as was mentioned in that thread you recommended? I'll try a new game.

Yes, 9x = 95 / 98 / ME.
