If you equip item you should see that item equiped. I mean if you equip brush and a pot it should look like brush and a pot, not as spear and a helm.

This will be just very funny to see.

PS I understand, maybe this is difficult to implement.

I think the same thing man, it's not good if you have a dragon shield and appear a simple shield in your hand and etc.

Yes, I , too, think that should have been implemented, but someone once said, that the person responsible for the main character's graphics left the team too early (shortly before completing the game, I think).

could you imagine seeing yourself attacking orcs, with a pot and a finely crafted broom?

hmm exactly, but, again, this is not my idea to bring brooms and stuff in the game and this is also not my fantasies to be able to equip them, right?
I just wondered that it will be nice to see all this beauty on character

If you make the characters 3D, it would take less room overall. All you'd need is a character model and textures, not a whole animation library for each item and character.

indeed, that's why I'm all for 3D, if the textures are detailed enough you'v still got a good looking game

Agreed. There needs to be more consistency with the in-game graphics vs. what is equipped on the character.

I can't understand why a sword (like the Nobleman's sword) looks really cool on the ground (so obviously it has an in-game graphic associated with it), yet when you equip it, it looks like a lame regular sword. It might have taken too much resources to make it work the other way, so I guess it's understandable. But I definitely hope this will be different in DD2.

The reason is simple: There were different people responible for different graphics ion the game.

While one was responsible for the sword lying on the ground, another one was responsible for the graphics "around" the main char.

Or look at the plates. When You're carrying golden or silver You should see your character shining, letting know thayt You're wereing this plate. And when You have completed aromour of the dragon maybe You should be able to polimorph in it to scare Your opponents.

That sucks! I want consistency, consistency dammit!

Maybe it would be too much work to put it in DD2 if it uses the same engine, but maybe not?

To me, it's simply teamwork.

And thus reducing costs.

How much would it really cost to stick an already-existing sword graphic onto the body, though? Or say, the graphic for how an armor looks on the ground to the body as well? Granted, there are more nuiances to body animations, but I think if it could be done, it should be.
