I will try to explain what I expect from II...

1. Great 3D graphics like Dungeon Siege's.
2. A good story which is related (sequel) to DD1. (i.e. I would like to find the fourth holy item.)
3. More speech options. (And maybe the ability to WRITE our own answers? So hard, I don't think so, not yet.)
4. Better monster AI and more monsters. Respawning monsters like in Diablo II?. More challenge.
5. More clever NPC's. (Don't want those guards and folk which ignored that I killed every orc in Rivertown and tell me about the war between humans and orcs. I said myself "Orc? What orc? Ggrrr...")
6. More charm types which adds damage, attack speed and such.
7. More character types and more skills absolutely. (I think you should check the skills. Why would someone use "Ranger Sight" when there is "Elven Sight"?)
8. Keep ability to multiclass. But it can be changed a bit. (i.e. It can cost you two skill points to get another class' skill. That makes harder to choose class. The difference between classes becomes clearer.)
9. A bigger and longer game with many more items, monsters, locations and NPCs. (I don't say that DD1 is short )

I can wait an extra year and pay three times more to get these, IMHO.
Just my two cents.

DD1 is one of the best games (not only RPG) I ever played. I hope DDII can keep this game great. Simply, I think that II can be the best game ever made if Larian listens to folk on this forum because you all know the difference between a good game and an excellent one.

Agreed, Larian made a great game.

I'd like to see a couple of things also.
Pls, if it is possible add:
- abracadabra to casting spells, (I mean when caster says things while casting, that was very well implemented in Baldurs Gate, Planescape Torment)
- a bit more graphic visuality to spells (for example summon demonic aide has that pentagramm when casting, but it dissapears so quickly )
- every chest/door/hatch should have it's key somewhere, to be able to play without necessarity to spec in thevery skills.
- implement set items. I'd love to have challenge to collect set of equipment which when completed will transform into something even more powerful.

I definitely have more thoughts, just can't recall everything right now

Yeah I don't think Dungeon Siege is a great example...

OK, I admit that...
The point is that DD2 should have great 3D graphics. Not the RP thing of DS. Well, DS had no RP thing anyway.

Egin, agreed on set items if they make a much bigger gameworld.

I think set items should be side stories, not just random. I got sick of finding only two pieces of every set in Diablo II. Each set suits a particular class or cross-class.

They don't have to be big stories, just "I heard there is this magical armour of the Frost Giant over there..." and "Did you hear about the Frost Giant's club?" I was also annoyed that the sets were named after people I'd never heard of and could ask about.

Set items.
No, they shouldn't be implemented as they were in Diablo. I could never collect all set, and even if I could finally get all those pieces together, stats for that equipment completely sucked as I was to that time much higher in lvl to even use it.

It should be done as it is in DD with dragon set. Sure, it may be done through smaller side quests.

Completing Dragon Armor took some time. If there were 10 sets like this, DD would be two times bigger and longer. I think some real powerful sets (Max 5 set) would be quest related. But there should be random drop sets which are not that powerful.

What about writing our own answers? When do you think we will be able to TALK with NPCs? Or will we ever be able?

hmm, writing own answers doen't increase the level of interactivity, at least it didn't in Dark Age of Camelot. You just had to type correct answer to a question, Almost always you could see that correct answer highlited in earlier conversation with that NPC. So, it is scripted, you should type exactly that word to have a success. This brings a frustration especially if you have difficulties with language (baggage or luggage ).

My opinion, there is no point of doing the same thing.

What do you think about this ?

I have heard that you could write your own background "story" for your char in Daggerfall - that would be nice, I think.

Hey ! What's about as an Textadventure !?

I think it is not fun to be forced to write certain answers. So I agree with you. However, that's not what I say.
I talk about REALLY writing our own answers. Or chatting with NPCs.
Just think about it. My mage goes to Zandalor and says: "Hello old man! I would like to know more about Elemental Strike. You seem to be capable on magic, maybe you can teach me, huh?" or asks to Hermit: "Hey, you old fellow there. Do you know the way to Dwarven Halls?"
Possibly, Zandalor will teach me if I ask like this by casting it on me.
And Hermit sends me right to Stalker's Cave!

imho, making NPCs talk (write) to you as in the real world isn't worth the money people will spend on II...

You are right if only this is implemented. But "talking NPCs" is not the only thing I expect from II.

hmm, is it really possible, to make them talk, and what is more important to recognize your writings? I have never seen this before. Should there be some words/sentences recognition modules in 2 ?
hmm, I think that this will be very difficult and and even if Larian succeeds carrying out this idea, we will see div 2 by the summer of 2005.
I think if they find some time to implement things that we advised in our first posts, 2 will be outstanding game ! I hope it will be anyway

And sure Kaan they should start thinking about your idea of interaction with NPCs today as this is probably future of the computer games .

I am pretty sure that this will be implemented sooner or later. I just hope that DD2 is the first to achieve this goal.
I think this can be handled by creating a dictionary for NPCs and using triggers for keywords. But then, I am not a tech guy.
That's just an idea which I will love to see in computer games.

it's not that simple, believe me and it would take up a lot of time to implement that

Right, but the idea if very good.

We can go even further.

All of us have headphones and a microphone Right? Even, if no it's not a problem to get them.

What if you you speak with NPC's and they respond to you also?!

- Hey, mister, where if the way to Verdistis ?
- Go to hell, you stinking dwarf!
(uups, again I am lost and came out to elven village)
