Larian Studios Forums Divinity: Original Sin 2 Divinity - Original Sin 2 - Bugs & Technical Problems Game Crashing when Selecting Difficulty

The game loads up fine from Steam. I select New Game, Single Player, and then upon selecting difficulty the game crashes.

There is sometimes a VERY brief moment where I will see a load bar (empty) before the screen goes black and the game crashes.

I am prompted to send a report to Larian, but figured I would post here to see if anyone had a solution.

I thought it might be a graphics driver issue, but after updating drivers I experienced the same issue.

There should be a loading screen then, leading to character creation.

I assume you tried Classic and Explorer difficulty modes? Not that that is likely to help...

Try lowering the graphics settings and resolution, or switching to Windowed or Fake Fullscreen display mode, to see if that makes a difference.


Try downloading this save file, and extracting the zip into your '..\Documents\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin 2\PlayerProfiles\<ProfileName>\Savegames' folder, then see if you can load it in-game.
