This may be just me, but in my opinion there should be a more epic intro, and a tutorial level for newbies to D:OS and D:OS2.
Here is my idea;
INTRO:
The intro could be dependant on the type of character you make or choose. If you chose a pregenerated character you would have an intro to their specific story.
If you chose a custom character, it would narrate first the tags you chose (for example for Noble it would say you were born among nobility, while the Mystic would say you were gifted with visionary powers since you could remember).
Both would end with something like '(...), but now, your fate awaits you...'
*TUTORIAL LEVEL:
The tutorial level would be the ship on which you were travelling. You were sitting in your cell while suddenly the ship starts turning and tossing 'a bit' more than it should and you ask yourself what this ruckus is about. You hear people yelling about Voidspawn appearing. You then have the options 'Ask the guard to let you out! [PLAY TUTORIAL]', or 'Ask the guard to watch over you[SKIP TUTORIAL]'
How to pick up items & Equip themThe guard turns to you and says 'Be quiet. We will take care of it.' A Voidspawn then appears, pierces his body and a key drops out of his pocket, along with a simple dagger into your cell. It tells you then to equip the dagger and prepare for combat once you open the celldoor.
How to fightYou open the cell door and prepare yourself to fight the Voidspawn (that teaches you how to fight enemies).
How to sneakOnce you kill the Voidspawn, you step outside and see Voidspawn at every cell trying to reach the imprisoned Sourcerers through blocked celldoors. That's when you get the tutorial about sneaking past enemies (they are faced with their backs to you so when you sneak they won't find you, otherwise there are too many to fight alone because they would kill you). You can then proceed past the Voidspawn and up the stairs to the next floor, where more tutorial stuff awaits you.
Elemental InteractionsYou walk up and see a guard destroying a water barrel while another guard uses Electric Discharge to electrify the surface and stun the Voidspawn. More Voidspawn appear, kill the guards, and start eating them. On one of the dead guards near the stairs is a Thunderbolt Grenade (this will teach you about elemental interactions, and will make it easier for you to kill the Voidspawn). After you kill the Voidspawn, you continue onwards.
Equiping StuffDepending on the class you choose (or rather the starting weapon of the class in the creation), there will be a coresponding weapon on a guard's corpse.
Combining Stuff & Using ItYou continue on and find an empty flask on a table along with a Penny Bun Mushroom, and it tells you to combine the items and get ready because the rumbling gets louder.
End of the tutorial and First EncounterYou get on the deck and the Voidspawn are fighting guards everywhere. The guards see that you escaped, but they say they need more help, and don't care if you are a Sourcerer. You then proceed to fight a couple of Voidspawn with the guards. After you win the fight, the guards will say thank you, and say it's unfortunate that one such as you is a Sourcerer. Then, a giant Voidspawn appears from a portal and kills the guards and it knocks you down. You fall unconscious and everything fades to black. The screen fades in and you wake up at the shores of Fort Joy.
*Note: The tutorial can be skipped if you choose the second option. The guard will hand you a weapon and protect yourself with it while he goes to see what's happening.
I don't know if you have thought about implementing a tutorial yet, but this is just my opinion of what would be cool to see. I hope you like it!
