I managed to keep him alive all through the fight with lots of healing and buffing. Then he asks for his family, takes off and decides it's a nice day to run through the raging fire. Quest closes with Gwydam is dead.

That's bad. I took advantage from the fact that I'm not the fastest player, the fire was long gone before I talked to him and he left the platform.

Let him tank shit for you for a bit and then just teleport him away to Africa with regeneration at some point.and that's it.

You have insane range on Teleport there, you can simply put him in a "box" somewhere and he won't even move.

Standing on the top level and just throwing up Dome of Protection basically kept me immune to any sort of damage for the entire fight. It doesn't matter how many of those stupid blobs jumped up onto the platform next to me. I smashed their faces and just regenerated all my magic armor every turn from the Dome.

As for the larger blobs, used my ranger to pick them off from high ground, plus throwing knife from my rogue, and if I wanted to speed things along I just phoenix dive Red Prince down there to finish one of them off, and then have my wizard cast teleport on him to bring him back up to my dome of protection.

I found this particular fight to be insanely easy *shrug*

Your group doesn't suffer much, that's true. It's only if you want to save that Gwydian character it gets a chore. That guy constantly runs into harms way. Through the fire mostly, which brings him to his knees pretty quickly.

Also, with the insane amount of fire everywhere, you don't see where these darn blobs are hiding. You have to basically hover your mouse over the whole landscape to see when the pointer turns into an attack symbol.

I had no problem saving Gwydan (kept him healthy and armored up all the time), but once that long-ass fight was over my team almost wiped out because of the dialogue that kicked in right after the fight - everyone was still standing in the fire of course AND they all tried to run up to my leader so they were taking damage in real time all throughout the dialogue. -_- I had to quickly click through it and still 2 people dropped dead by that time. It would not be fun to repeat all that just because of something silly like that...

Old thread but if you do manage to save him (and maybe if most of his family are alive?) head back to their house and he'll reward you.
