I have 38 hours into my save game, never once has it crashed either inside the game or while trying to load. Today after the update on steam, the game crashes on save game load. Ive tried going back to older saves and the same. The load progress bar gets about 75% of the way then it crashes to desktop. Ive tried disabling all mods, verified steam game files, total reinstall of the game, running the game in fullscreen/windowed/fake fullscreen, and have even tried it on my Desktop and laptop. All with the same outcome. I can however start a new game and that loads correctly. When the crash to desktop occurs I get the generic DOS2 Crash Reporter without any specific error codes. Is there a way to read the DMP files located in the game folder? Any help would be immensely appreciated.

Just posting to confirm I am also having this issue so it's not an isolated incident. The extra wrinkle is that my most RECENT session/character (4 person multiplayer file) loads just fine. It is my newest playthrough but NOT my most recently saved file. I loaded up an older file with 20-25 hours on it on Tuesday the 24th just fine and saved it, but that and my other file with 30+ hours now CTD. Tried the same stuff as Danny except a full reinstall. Would love to see this addressed as starting new files for both my 30+ hour single player and 25 hour 2 player does not appeal to me. Thank you for any help.

Same problem. I can actually load about 20 different saves, but the 2 I would want to play (My main playthrough, and my wife and I's playthrough) will not load.

They crash right near the end.

I have reinstalled, uninstalled mods, tried without them, or tried with them, etc..

Very very disappointed - been waiting to play all week and can't play when I finally get time.

Please please Larian fix this. My wife 100% will not start over the game after this far through...

Trying to load into any game when I've got a mod enabled makes it crash. No idea why, even fresh mods made after this patch. No idea what's happening.

Unable to load any saves > 20h into the game since yesterday's patch (Steam).
Also the crash reporter is unable to send report (timeout error message).
Enabling/disabling/reinstalling all mods did not help.
Loading progress bar halts at about 80%, then crash do desktop.
Starting a new game with and without mods works fine as before the latest patch.
I can provide the crash logs and savegames on demand.

Please fix, I don't want to repeat the last > 50h :(

@Biberesser, copy the folder "PlayerProfiles" from C:\Users\Tommy\Documents\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin 2 then uninstall DOS2, the larian folder in \Documents and reinstall, then paste "PlayerProfiles" back into there after reinstall.

That fixed it for me after this patch with our 110 hour campaign save.

EDIT: (In your case, you can also backup the mods folder)

I found a simpler way:

What i did:
- install latest nvidia driver (just to be sure)
- in folder "%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin 2":
delete the following folders:
"GMCampaigns", "LevelCache", "Temp"
and the file "graphicSettings.lsx"
so only 2 folders remain: "PlayerProfiles", "Mods"
- start game, enable all mods as usual
- load savegame (may take a looooooong time to load, but works!)

No game reinstallation needed. Let Steam do a file CRC check if unsure.
So basically i think one of those cache folders contained broken data. The loading error is gone now.
Just beware of the super slow loading time after enabling certain mods and loading savegames (just as it was when first enabling the mod, once).
It took me 15mins on an Intel i7 4790k@4.4Ghz to my latest save (act 2), but it finally worked!

I hope this helps anyone having similar problems.

Same thing happens to me and the proposed solution didn't really work.

Here's the breakdown of the matter of things I discovered so far:

1. Old save won't load with the mods I used before installed.
2. Won't load with mods unchecked
3. Will load with mods actually removed from the mods folder (I guess this won't trigger the "save was made with these mods installed that are now disabled" check)
4. After saving the game with mods removed from folder and then readding the mods but keeping them unchecked the save will load.
5. After that any mod enabled will make loading impossible again (ctd)
6. New game works fine with any mods enabled

Feels like dead end unless I am ready to play completely without mods and I am not.
