The RTwP/TB choice is discussed in a few other threads. I am not as concerned with this issue as much as with the question of questions like this one.

Would this be a better game if so and so... This seems to me to be the wrong question in the current situation. We've been hoping for BG3 for nearly 20 years not because the originals were great, but because of the particular way they were great.

The love for Baldur's Gate... Little quirks and imperfections are not mistakes to be addressed or issues to be changed and fixed. They are the things we love. Please, don't make the game "better" by doing away with them without consideration.

- quite weak NPCs
- extremely overpowered NPCs
- some easy trash mobs
- an impossible fight turning laughable by the right spell
- a plain impossible fight at this level or itemisation
- hitting space, seeing the action explode, then reading the log for ages
- missing five times in a row
- cheesy tactics
- getting worried by the rain and thunder
- jumping from the chair when randomly getting struck by lightning
- unbalanced classes
- no big surprises of new loot in a replay
- stockpiling trash items to sell them in one go
- breaking both my sword and spare in a single battle
- nearly game-breakingly overpowered items
- having to think of self-imposed limitations to up the challenge
- the huge difference between a 75 and a 93 roll
- better and worse end-game weapon types
- trying to roleplay gaming the system to keep our evil buddies in the party
- You must gather... five times in a row after a pathfinding silliness
- and so many more...

Pains, inconveniences, annoyances, boring bits, obvious imbalances. But would the games have been so great without things like these to accompany all the excitement? And how exactly did BG1/2 charm you?

Please, when you go about design decisions, try not to go for the *best* Baldur's Gate game you can imagine but instead try for the best *Baldur's Gate* game you can imagine. It will be much different but still amazing, and it will be better loved.

1 - If weak and strong NPCs are removed, then there are no parameter to compare your party level. Some NPC's will be far more weaker and some far more stronger than you
2 - Trash mobs exist for a reason. Not every mob is an legendary ancient draco lich.
3 - That is an good feature of D&D, if you are fighting an fire elemental, an spell that increases your fire resistance OBVIOUSLY will help you. Against enemies that can cast Wail of the Banshee, death effects immunity can help a lot.
4 - What is the problem? Impossible fights exist on RPG by a reason. You can't and should't kill everything that has stats. On M&M VII, there are an dragon on starting emerald island, you don't fight then. You pick the quest item and run. Modern RPG's aren't teaching you right.
5 - Missing is a important part. If you have an kitchen knife and your enemy plate armor, you will need a lot of lucky to deal any damage on him. That makes perfectly sense.
6 - Cheesy tactics should exist like on other games
7 - The weather should worry you. It makes sense.
8 - Trying to make the game more balanced will make the game much more homogenized.
9 - Magical gear should be rarer and this is an role playing game, not an gear playing game like diablo 3.
10 - Swords are fragile. That makes sense. No more indestructible light sabers that can cut plate like it was paper and require no maintance.
(...)

Sorry, but being very honest, looks like you wanan dos3 instead of bg3 BG3 should be like BG2/1.

@SorcererVictor, I think @cdx was saying they like those things about the BG games. And I agree with most of them.
