I´ve read those series with Angelique. If I am not wrong, there was an old movie based in those series. Brilliant! I like this name.

Thanks

That's correct. The name is the french form for 'Angela' or 'Angelica'. I'm not sure, but I think the action in the books took place around the french revolution.
I made a mage with that name, but stopped playing that character after she had come far to early to the waste lands (no way back, you know ) She was definately not ready for 'Angelique and The Lord of Lies'

Regulus
- Paladin types (heart star of Leo constellation)

Arcadion
- magi (demon you trap in the sword in Ultima 7)

Shaitan
- theives and assassins (I'll let you guys figure this one out, seem to be alot of Jordan fans here)

Tempus
- berserkers (Thieves World series. It seems he is also a god in the D&D universe, at least he is in Baldur's Gate)

Jubal

Well we sure talk about the same books. The story took place in France during the revolution. And If I am correct, there was a part that Angelique, joined a thieves party.

Glad we like the same books.

One question : your Angelique in is a warrior, mage, or thief?

Actually I would classify avatar names into three classes.
The first is concerning avatars with invincible qualities and super stats.
Here names of Ancient GODS would be the best, also diabolic names should work too.
Raa, Horus, Seth, Isis, Neu, Zeus, Elite, Veronica, Venus, ..., etc.

The second class is that of demigods, heroes and champions where the race is critical.
Human = Hercules, Spartacus, Samson, Delilah, Cleopatra, Het-chep-sute, Joan, Antara, Holako (Jenkis Khan),

For Orcs, names made of combinations of weapons and gore works best or names ending with “ak”.
Orcs = Bloodhammer, Swardsblood, Clanbanned, Deathknife, Maceblow, Bloodclub, Bloodyarrow, Blackspeare, and Shakespeare.
Also, Jurak, Makmak, Domak, Ranak, Gorak, etc.

For Elves, any name ending with aris for males and ca/ na for females should do, preferably augmented with forest objects.

I like Eldaris, Elona, Elvana, Elvanis, Silvana, Silvaris, Goldana, Goldaris, Miroca, Thornar, Oakana, Oakalus, Nightbreeze, Windchill, Greenleaf, Winterbolts, etc.

For Dwarfs, Stoneaxe, Stonehammer, Stony, Darktunnle, Minemaster, Mineoronbesns. etc.

The last and lowest rank is very limited and it has only one name:
DAD. (drink and die.)

She is a mage, but could have been anything. In Diablo 2, she was an assassin.

Well I think that if she is a mage the name fits perfect.

My char is a warrior and the blonde hair stuck in my stomach.... I would prefer to have a red hair like me. The name Lucretia goes wasted in that blonde warrior. It is the only thing I do not like in the game. Hope in DD 2 there would be more char to choose.

Macbeth of course! A fierce Warrior! A fragment from the play by Shakespeare:

For brave Macbeth,—well he deserves that
name,—
Disdaining fortune, with his brandish'd steel,
Which smok'd with bloody execution,
Like valour's minion carv'd out his passage
Till he fac'd the slave;
Which ne'er shook hands, nor bade farewell to
him,
Till he unseam'd him from the nave to the chaps,
And fix'd his head upon our battlements.

Evil at its best!

I am in blood
Stepp'd in so far, that, should I wade no more,
Returning were as tedious as go o'er.

Hi LUCRETIA

Nice to see you again.
About Angélique : the books have been writen by a couple of french people :
Anne and Serge Golon, i think they were married.
It was during the early sixties.
The books were very successful and there were 5 movies about the adventures of Angélique,
with a very beautiful women with red hair, Michèle Mercier.
The story did not take place during the french revolution but about 200 years before.
It was during the reign of Louis XIV (le roi soleil), about 1660-1680.
You are right, Angélique joined a thieves guild during some times.

In Paris, i live in the place were most of the thieves guild took place during this period.
These places were called "Cour des miracles".

In his novel "Notre Dame de Paris", the writer Victor Hugo talked of the thieves guilds in Paris.

thnx for the info Barta. It was really interesting. Unfortunatelly I have not found yet a good translated publication of the books. The Greek publications of those series were really poor. I liked it, even though the translation was very bad. Hope that it will published again sometime and be better.
