Have Rope to be used like a lock pick or disarm tool, to be used to climb places that are to high to jump for some characters

I was pumped when I saw the rope. Every explorer, dungeoneer, and burglar equipment pack in 5e comes with 50' of hempen rope. How can you call yourself an adventurer without packing rope. Too bad, you can't seem to use it, especially in a game with so much verticality.

Perhaps a rope could be used to enable a kind of safe jump down dangerous heights action. I mean the game already has mechanics for characters descending from tall heights, all ropes would need is a climbing animation instead of ajumping down animation.

May just be a left over from DOS crafting system - rope was used in a number of recipes. Its possible it will be used for some recipes in BG3 but who knows.

I know right, I gathered ~10 ropes so far, and 1 of every tools like hammer, shovel, and so on, hoping to need them... but nope. They just junk. Very sad.

I'm hoping it actually becomes a useful item at some point. Instead of jumping off a cliff and falling prone.. taking damage, it would be cool if I was able to use one of those ropes in my inventory istead.

Yep, that was me as well. Disappointing. Maybe in a few months, who knows...
