Possibly. it doesn't help that the social stigma for acting like a slimy creep can hit way heavier in one direction than the other.

Loviatar - Goddes of pain https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Loviatar

her cleric is in the goblin camp, and can torment the main character with his consent, Shadow Heart reacts ambiguously to this

I don't think that anyone is doing that here tho.
If people were talking about a real person and drooling about them I'd have a very different take here.
The same way that I think drawing fictional characters in a sexual way is very different than drawing a real life person without consent in a sexual way.
Not to mention that people are just discussing the content in the game.
I don't think that any of this makes someone a '' slimy creep ''. I mean I dunno where you're from and your upbringing but it strikes me as a bit puritan, people having fun and discussing or expressing sexual things doesn't make them a creep.

I mean this is just tame in comparison to the usual '' shipping '' communities too lol.
Like wow don't go anywhere near social media if this bothers you haha.

All fine points smile

I bet the vocal few demonstrating this level of indignant outrage do the same on every other forum where their "values" are challenged or where others express their opinions. I will rise above the childish name calling (speaks volumes about those individuals btw) and respect their opinions while they fail to to the same for everyone else. This is a forum and I will post what I like as I will ALWAYS respect the boundries imposed by the moderators. Dont like it? Too bad.

I suppose it would be nice if there were more, shall we say, exotic options in the romance scenes. Then again this forum sometimes gives me the impression that we have a subset of players immigrated from Loverslab.

To be fair, it doesn't seem to me that you guys are discussing how well the various romance interactions are written, just your fantasies on how would you like to "punish Shadowheart" or "master Lae'zel".

As long as the moderator says its okay with the forum rules it is also fine by me but don't try to hide and accuse others to be intolerant if they find it creepy, because it is.
Try to join a discord voice chat about any videogame and start saying random "oh yeah, I really want to BDSM *charactername*, that noughy girl ;)" and see the reactions.

So yeah, people could just ignore this thread instead of commenting but don't deny the fact that this was not the most adequate place where to post erotic roleplay.

Peace!

'While I admit I'm a huge sucker for romance in RPG, I would really not appreciate it becoming some creepy sex sim, there are other places to live out those fantasies (+ there weill probably be mods for those that think otherwise)

I think Witcher 3 Yen and Triss scenes are a good reference - not too prudish, fits the narrative and definitely doesn't take itself too seriously.
So for me too explicit or interactive sex scenes would be a huge no (Minthara scene is ok IMO).

The priest of Loviatar scene was really more parody than a promise of future bdsm possibilities in my opinion.

Jeez, why do all the neck-beards living in their Mom's basement have to drag everything down into sleaze? I get that some people want romance arcs. Fine. I don't, but I get that others do. But we have to draw a line somewhere. This sort of kink is really taking things too far. Go jerk off to porn if this is the sort of thing you want, and leave BG3 alone.

I wonder if you've experienced the romance scenes. Lae'zel's is pretty on the nose with dom/sub elements. It's not something just being invented. It's literally part of the game when it comes to interacting with her like that. So that makes me think there's some dissonance or unwillingness to recognize what's there and is why I linked the article I did.

There is a very adult, explicit aspect to this game and Larian isn't being shy. At all. In the slightest. On the contrary, they're being quite bold with it. I think folks like you will have to find a way to reconcile that, but that's not mine or other's responsibility.

I have no problem with people mixing a bit of sex in with their slaughtering and looting if that's how they want to play a game. Sex is, after all, what makes the world go around (well, that and Fat Bottomed Girls) so it would be odd if it never appeared in RPGs.

In a tabletop PnP, or in multiplayer/MMO with other people, you can get as flirty and dirty as you like. In terms of game mechanics, though, I would rather not see anything approaching the disaster that was F.A.T.A.L. A Seduction roll (I think they are best dome with Diplomacy or possibly Deception roll now) is fine to let the GM know that your PC has distracted or charmed the NPC. I don't need to see rolls for position, stamina or satisfaction.

As for discussing sex or game-related fetishes on the General section of the forum. Well, I'm fine with that. Maybe I don't share the kink or feel comfortable with the language or insinuations, but I am not being forced to read the thread. If I get uncomfortable I can always just leave with the click of a button. I did just that over on the 'How Sexy Should Half-Orcs Be?" thread. There was a thread that approached bucket of water territory at times, but if you don't like it, don't read it.

I'm not sure where they want to take it. I do know they're fully motion captured like anything else and are going to be at least minimally interactive during. If it's any consolation, it's pretty obvious what you're getting into when you start going down that road.

For the Minthara one, it's pretty explicit but still very much an approximation. They don't try to be hyper realistic. But, like I mentioned, the themes involved, the dialogue leading up to and during, and the dynamic after aren't restricted at all. It doesn't get into super dirty talk either so it's still classy.

Imo, this is only a problem with lingering American puritanism. There's still a big ick factor around sex happening or being portrayed outside of a very narrow "acceptable" range. I highly doubt they'll go full AO rating wise but it's definitely on the upper end of Mature.

Alright, look, I'm well into my middle years and, at the risk of sounding cliche, I've been around the block a time or two. Nothing being discussed in this thread is something I've never heard before. That said, when people are taking exception to what's being discussed here, it has nothing to do with "American puritanism" or any other bullshit like that and everything to do with what is considered polite discussion in a civil society. MOST people, aren't interested in discussing other people's sex fetishes any more than they want to hear about the boil on your ass you had to have lanced. That's your business and that's where it should stay, forum rules be damned.

I have no problem with adult content, on the contrary, I appreciate it in a videogame since it helps portraiting things more realistically. I was only saying that it's not correct to accuse people of being "bigots", "puritans", "intolerants" etc just because they find cringe to see people discussing their sexual fantasies on the general section of a videogame forum.
Because, as I said, you people weren't discussing technical or artistic aspects of the romance, just read the first 4 posts of this thread.

As I mentioned before, I have no problem with this thread personally, the things that scandalise me are others, I just felt the need to point out that one doesn't need to be a bigot to find this conversation out of place.

Please, do not presume to know me or what should be good for me. I never address anyone personally, I just "defended" people being called intolerant for no real reason, at least in my opinion.
Thanks smile

Who is Loviatar...?

I think op should rename the theme to "More BDSM in the game". It will be immediately clear what he meant, and only those who are really interested in discussing this will enter the topic.
Perhaps the title of the topic and the author's shyness became the reason that he was accused before.
If you want to see Shadow Heart a bit submissive masochistic, all the more optional - don't be shy.

This is good feedback. The main thing is not to write in detail your fantasies, how would you punish her, Larian will come up with something themselves if they see the players' interest (and she is)
I also want to see her as bit optional masochistic as Minthara/Lae'zel the dominatrix. Given their nature and type, this is not surprising and is not something out of the ordinary

That's not your decision; nor are you the arbiter of what is polite, civil or what "most people" think. This topic may not be my cup of tea so I wouldn't otherwise be engaging with it. I suggest you do likewise.
