DOOM SHALL FALL UPON YOU, DOOM! THE END OF THE WORLD IS NEAR! THE GREAT SNAKE SHALL DEVOUR US ALL! And the topic will be closed. What a shame. Oh well, Spam, Spam and Spam... *walks away, mumbling under his breath* "spam..."

I'm glad they aren't putting multiplayer in the Riftrunner. Sadly they are adding it to Divinity 2. I may not buy that game or just get it cheap of Ebay or something. I don't play multiplayer and with most games these days, they put most of the design/game time into the multiplayer and I would spend a lot of money to play nothing.
At least with Ebay, I can get the game cheap without paying the designers all that money for something I would never use. It would be better if they would have 2 versions of games. One that is the single player and then another that has both single and multiplayer for slightly more. That way I could buy the part I would play and not waste my money on the part I would never use.
That's one the best things about the first game. Everything in it, I could play.

It's sort of like going to a fast food place. They have the option where I can buy a hamburger, fries, or a drink... or maybe get it in an all for 1 package at a cheaper price than buying all 3. Usually someone gets the all for 1 package but sometimes people just want a hamburger or just the fries. If they forced everyone to buy all of it, then they would just buy nothing.
In the internet world, instead of choosing to buy nothing, there are a lot of people who will just copy it from a newsgroup instead of paynig for a bunch of stuff someone wouldn't be able to use.

well a lot of RPG games I've played that had multiplayer, some parts you had to go online to play. Others set it up where you couldn't save and continue later. Dungeon Seige was that way. The multiplayer part was set up to not allow you to save. Others have parts that are multiplayer that have no purpose as a single player like parts in Warcraft III.

I have no idea how they are going to do Divinity 2. I don't think they have released much info on that since Riftrunner is coming out first.

*clears throat* Even by buying the game in a computer store, you do not support the developping team. When a game is completed, the team sells the product to the publisher. All the money they can get, they get it at that moment. Now when you buy a game somewhere, you only support the publisher. So buying the game on Ebay does nothing much. There is one thing though: if many people buy RR, Larian will become more known that it is now, meaning that as a famous company they will get more money for their projects.

IMHO I would say that the best thing to do w/ 2 would be to connect via LAN and also provide a server somewhere so we could all play against each other.
Or w/each other... As I have said befor the one thing I miss the most about
is being able to connect w/ my friends and play...We all miss this
option, and I am looking forward to it. I know already 2 is going to be a very strong single player in it's own right.( That seems to be the way our Larians like em...Involved!) makes sense to be single player
because it is a continuation of . Whereas I would think 2 will be a stand alone/above kinda game. So, ya, it should be a multi player. My .02$

agreed. if multiplayer's going to be implemented anyway, i hope LAN support is good so dialup users like carrie & i can still opt to multiplay offline via LAN with no lag & big overheads.

Yes, this would be nice but for this the game can't have the pause key, only real real-time.

I suppose. But do you need a pause key if you control only one character with the locked camera?

yikes!! pause key issue rearing its ugly head again. haven't we talk about this somewhere before? by the way, in multiplayer which a player may only control one character, pause key isn't practical. it's annoying when your multiplayer pal hit PAUSE & went off to the john only to emerge after half an hour. he/she said, "boy that was a BIG ONE!"

please disable PAUSE key in multiplayer.

I remember that in Heroes of Might and Magic 3: I played against someone then...
DATD: Are you there?
*silence*
20 minutes later
Player: Ah, sorry, I was eating...

Agreed if for no other reason than to eliminate the above conversation from ever happening.

I find most RPG games have just as much depth in SP as MP. If you don't like MP then don't play online. I really doubt that 2 is MP only. I just hope that MP has a co-op side to it and not just a PvP side. Re: hack and slash.
