Hello, everyone, and especially the Larians.
I've just made it through Iona's Dungeon (for the second time), and I was totally bored.
I mean - grey-brown walls, no sign of interesting inscriptions, everything being dull and brown, well Evil might build suchj boring Dungeions - just to literally bore prisoners to death -
but I , as the player, want's something for the eyes, too.
In german, we have the saying "das Auge ißt mit" - so I want something more or less eye-catching, something that keeps the player's curiosity going, for example.
Well, I hope I made it understandable.
That's from me for now.
Alrik.

I agree, Alrick. Much of the fun in playing DD comes from the quirky humour and the attention to detail... More detail -- especially in the surroundings -- would certainly add to the replay value. The bits of the game I liked least were those boring dungeons (even some graffitti would have been nice!)
Please, Larians? Make a great game even better!!

Agreed. Visual repetition is one of the biggest turn-offs in a game, simply put. There's a reason I couldn't stand NWN graphics very long. (Every city looks the same, every evil temple looks the same, every forest... You get the point.)

Or how about rather than more "dungeon" fights, have more fights take place inside buildings? It's not "open field" fighting, but it's still very intriguing nonetheless. There is less room for manuevering around, but there is more potential for storyline. I really loved fighting those guys in the house where the little boy's parents were being held hostage. It was a great quest, and I wouldn't mind seeing some fights taking place in large mansions as well. Tying those mansions in Verdisidis, and the drudgery of nobles that reside within them, to some larger, more insidious quest would have been interesting to see in DD. Some men jumping out at you as soon as you open a door would be cool, too. of course, this might not work since in the in-game map you can see where the enemies are. But nonetheless I think a good game should have a balance of "city fights" and "dungeon crawls."

Lack of visual change is common in a lot of games, and does lead to the game becoming repetitous and boring. Let's hope we get some more variety in the new one. Of course, all that extra art is expensive and time consuming to make, so it's understandable why devs can't always change it up as much as we would like!

It doesn't have to be completely new backdrops. I was hoping for something more along the lines of some smaller eye-candy on top of already existing backdrops, like say a huge statue or a big abyss in the middle of someplace, or a little camp set up somewhere, and more things that are big decorations on the ground (in dungeons). Permanent hell spikes?

Good idea Alric, pentagramms, flags, torches, statuettes, cocroaches, mirrors, in one word more details, more even little thingies that make dungeon lvl 1 become different from lvl 2, 3 and 7.
Unique idea, I think nobody used mirrors, at least in isometric RPGs, and character could even reflect in them as he reflected in water in DD.
