I am still finding my way around the forum here, thanks a bunch Vometia for moving me to the normal user group! You have mentioned that a https version of this forum is being tested out, but I don't know if it's going to include new features and so on, would be pretty cool if you could tell us more about it.

In the case that it doesn't, I want to make a point for a poll functionality. In my opinion, this is pretty critical for various things, especially for feedback, and in combination with this forum, you'll have a quick overview of the current sentiment through the polls, and you can dive deeper into the replies for more detailed assessments from the users. This way, if the developers so choose, they can get a good feel for what's working great and what isn't, and that would make it easier for them to put their focus where it is best placed.

The software version is exactly the same other than https: as much as I like the latest shiny, it was sensibly decided to take a more cautious approach! It does however include functionality for creating polls; I've never used it myself so I can't comment. I'm not sure what was the rationale behind not enabling it so I'll see what I can find out.

The reason: players can see what other people have voted and know the numbers and opinions too; if you write in-game feedback only, you'll never know what the people around you think on the same matters. It is good both for social interaction, and getting a realistic picture.

Yes, you will get vocal people who hasn't played the game, but still have an opinion. That can be taken as a factor, in a poll.

Possibly. There's a couple of unrelated issues I need to check out with the tech guys (and thanks for the reminder, I'm a bit behind on that) but the forums seem to be stable after the recent update so we can possibly try something new. Strictly speaking it's Raze's decision but I figure they can be given a trial run provided nothing bad seems imminent.

Aside from the functionality, the only thing to bear in mind is that they only give a snapshot of a largely self-selected group and aren't representative of people or players as a whole: yeah, I know you probably already know that but it's worth a reminder anyway, so the usual stuff about forum users being a (very) small minority of players, different forums have different demographics and "personalities" and so on.
