I am an unrepentant car nut smile I get the impact of fossil fuels and the possible reduction of impact on the environment by the move to electric (which will only be a benefit if its energy without cost..which can never really happen) but yes... I truly lament the passing of the V6 and V8. Electric cars can still deliver performance (try a Tycan before you judge) but there is something special about a well engineered combustion engine. Being a serious mountain biker I get the motorbiker vibe. Two wheels really are great. Stick some carbuna wax on that paint job. That will help it survive the drive:)

At least you can actually own old cars. There is no one on the other side of the globe who can disable features with a click. Some companies (BMW) are experimenting with subscription based seat heating. If you need to pay subscription fees to use "your" car it is not your car
I very much dislike subscription when it comes to software licenses but monthly payments to use hardware that is already there are taking it to the next level

I sometimes use thought experiments. I don't necessarily believe in every idea I post for discussion on this forum

Not heard of this but will defo look into it.... I'm not convinced that BMW will try and charge you to heat your seats but yeah, nothing is impossible. I won't buy another BMW because of their decision to go only with Apple play anyway but yeah, Thats mad if its a thing..

A link to a german article about their plans: https://www.heise.de/news/Sitzheizu...funktionen-im-Abo-verkaufen-4836043.html
They are thinking about all things subscription. Its a general trend. Louis Rossman and the right to repair guys have been predicting such a course of action for years. Subscription generates a nice predictable stream of income. Even the things you can actually buy are made hard to repair on purpose. Replacing ICs with new ones of identical function but different connections serves but one purpose: Prevent repairs.
A brave new world in which everything is a service and the starlink satellites above look kindly down on you while transmitting your personal -I mean public- data for the best interest of all.

Uhhgg..... I guess we all knew this was coming. My solution is buy the M140i I've been putting off (the old F20) for cash, and have it as my daily and project car. Screw them. They can have other fools money. Yeah, agree re the built in obselecence and preventing repairs. Absolutely shitty practice. Things I hate today... Everything.

Despite all the troubles, it is better to reach for positive thinking and draw good conclusions from the bad
For example, I am a very gambling person, and when I lose, I don't get upset or give up, but draw conclusions and analyse why it happened and how to avoid it next time. This is the way to deal with all events that happen in life. I've been betting for a long time and I've realised a very important thing for myself: you don't need to play at random, you need to have a strategy. And most importantly, manage your emotions: don't let emotions drive your betting decisions. Avoid gambling when you're upset, excited, or under the influence of substances. It's so brilliant that you can apply these rules to all aspects of life. And, of course, do not run into scammers, but use trustworthy bookmakers, such as the 1win app https://1winbetofficial.in/casino-online/ (available in Hindi in India)
