Hey, yeah the title says it all in the short version. I don't like it. BG1 and BG2 hat some epic music, other modern RPGs like Pathfinder Kingmaker or Tyranny as well. Other modern RPGs like Witcher 3 hat legendary Musik. But this BG3 does not feel appropriate. I'm sorry for not being able to pinpoint my problem. It is more of a strong feeling. It started with the first time I saw the title screen, the music started playing and I went "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEWW this sucks.".
Maybe someone feels the same as me and is more capable to articulate the problem.
Sorry, but when I see a thread titled like that, I can't help but react.
This is your music tastes, I respect that. Truly. But please : what's the point to make a thread for that ?
Do you really think the developers will say to the composer (who has certainly, at least, already composed the 2/3 of the score) :
"Your music sucks. It isn't great enough to please the entire planet. No offense. Try again."
Be serious, by the Nine Hells !
People of this forum has already some troubles to bring attention on their feedbacks and suggestions (which are, I want to believe, much more concrete than just a poor comment like "I don't like the music") to the developers, and that kind of thread DOESN'T HELP AT ALL. I really hope you are aware of that. It just pollutes this section with useless "spite" (yeah, strong word, but I mean it). And when moderators or eventually developers read that kind of stuff, I'm sure it doesn't make them want to reply or to do anything to show they care about what we type on this forum.
This section isn't a comment section. I mean... It's titled "SUGGESTIONS & FEEDBACK". I think there is a great difference between a comment and a feedback.
You don't like the score ? Well, sorry dear, it can't match everytime. "C'est la vie."
But please, I beg you, let us know why EXACTLY you don't like it and if something CONCRETE could eventually improve it, instead of just being disrespectful towards the composer and her/his musicians by telling "this sucks".
At this moment, it will be concrete and not just a comment with empty words.
Here's a hint :
Personally, I quite like this score, even if it's not its entirety (but we don't care, dude). Some parts are maybe a bit repetitive (ah ! but what else ?).
When I say repetitive, I mean, for example, that there are maybe not enough different battle soundtracks, related to the different types of environments or to the type of enemies we are facing. So it can eventually lose a bit of "epicness" because it feels it's the same battle everytime.
For example : the battle against the three leaders of the goblin's pack, praying for "the Absolute !". For such a non-linear and [relative] important battle, maybe it would have been good to have a special / unique track for it.
Nonetheless, I'm not a composer (in video game moreover) and new tracks are not composed in two shakes of a lamb's tail.
And music is certainly a part of the game which we can't hope to have some changes, because the process is simply different, and it can be made far in advance contrary to the rest.
So, you see what I mean now when I talk about CONCRETE stuffs ?
Have a good day.
