Ive play tested/EA on a few other games and dont mind the process at all but if they go 2yrs, they better add more content because what we currently have cant be stretched out with any meaningful entertainment value(imho) or they should have delayed EA until they were a bit closer...
There's two problems with your logic.
1: Of course they're adding new content to BG3. We only have the first chapter, if even that. There's going to be a LOT more added to the game.
2: Early access is EARLY access. This isn't beta. This isn't even alpha. And even those can last a year. This is EARLY. Some games will be released in early access and never done, or called done when they're really not. But I don't think we'll have that problem with BG3.
It doesn't matter if you can entertain yourself before it's released or not. What matters is if the game is something you'll keep playing and coming back too once it's finally released. What you do is up to you. But that's a you issue. Not an issue of the game itself. Unless the game drags out in EA for 3+ years. Then it's a game issue. We simply have to be realistic about what is currently in the game and what has yet to be added in. It shouldn't take more then 2 years. If it does there'll be some major changes as to why. I suspect a 1.5 year before release with expansions added by year 2.
As for Cyperpunk, that game is nearing release. Sales also go up around Christmas. They have to release it by now. Or they risk losing sales. Unless there are some VERY major changes for the long term playability of the game. That's already been done though. If they do it any more people will start losing interest. So they kind of have to release at this point.
