Lyara is a Tiefling adventurer. She is interested in history and mystizism, which is, how she ended up becoming a warlock. She've met a Great Old One didn't go crazy and thought 'Why not'. She is usually very carefree about everything and despite her having to fight a lot of predjudices because of her race, she is a nice and helpful person. She lived a while in Baldurs Gate to study, but was about to organize anotehr expedition, when the mindflayers snatched her.

Funnily enough - she managed to get Lae to calm down, after the Githyanki attacked us. I just thout the 'Calm down and take a deep breathe'-line would fit her perfectly - and she suceeded in the roll.

She gets along great with Wyll, not only because of them being both warlocks, but she likes his style. It seems tha tshe and Lae'zel are starting to get along as well, despite having often very different viewpoints.

Loved reading everyone's stories. So here's my little, quite generic, contribution.

Myfanwy / "Lucky Charm Miv" / Miv: half-drow GOO Warlock
[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]

alignment: chaotic neutral
approves: freedom, booze, boats, lemon cakes, spiders, pipe smoking, gambling, making fun of people
disapproves: kids, nobility, kale, self-righteousness, storms, seagulls, anything that's locked, talking objects, mirrors, curses, rules and plans
deities: Valkur, Sharess, Tymora
traits: sociable, hedonistic, lives for today, open/strong-minded, witty
flaws: manipulative, easily bored, selfish, derisive, reckless

Long story short:
After spending her whole life traveling as a merchant's daughter, a smuggler and eventually a pirate, her sharp silver tongue has become her weapon of choice; she'll use it to either lighten the mood with a jest or scare people away with only her words and a stern look from her deep amber eyes.

Adventure is an old-friend, the Sea her lover and Death her shadow. Unknowingly escaping the inevitable and hedonism are her way of life. She's learned to put herself first ever since she opened a mysterious, dusty, old book and witnessed the disappearance of her loved ones throughout the years.

Haunted by otherworldly voices coming from random objects and constantly thorn between her need for companionship and her fear of commitment, she'll usually end up doing what she thinks she needs to do to survive, or have fun... until she finds something, or someone, worth dying for.

Long story not short:
The only child of a traveling merchant from Neverwinter and a drow who survived the destruction of Ched Nasad but died in childbirth, Miv grew up in Baldur's Gate with her father, who owned a cabinet of wonders in the Lower City. When she was 12, her father decided it was time for him to take his traveling business up again. For a couple years, Miv and her father wandered all across Faerûn, bargaining, scamming, enjoying the freedom of not knowing what the next day would bring, until they got attacked by a group of bandits who intended to sell them as slaves. Reluctantly, but guided by her strong will to survive, Miv managed to escape their captors by hitchhiking a smuggling boat, leaving her father behind.

That smuggling boat, called The Serpentine, would become her new home for many years, as its captain, a half-orc who only spoke through his pet-parrot Brad, took a liking in her sharp silver tongue, just as she took a liking in life at sea and in the company of her newfound family. Alas, good things never lasted.

One day, after The Serpentine had been tasked to smuggle a small cargo of magic items, her curiosity got the better of her as she couldn't help herself from opening a strange dusty book she inexplicably felt drawn to. A couple days later, the crew got attacked by mysterious sea creatures. She woke up on a merchant's boat, unsure about her crew's fate.

They brought her back to Baldur's Gate where she ended up working on the docks and started hearing voices, cryptic messages, usually in an unknown language and mostly coming from inanimate objects. During the day, she worked at a warehouse, during the night, she drank to quiet the voices.

One evening, while she was drinking herself to death and gambling her life away, she met a charismatic Tiefling captain named Aya. After a night of dangerous games, Miv tried to sneak her way out of her debts, but failed. She got caught and ended up on Aya's pirate ship, The Weeping Maiden. It was the beginning of a long and tumultuous relationship that led her to become the ship's first mate.

During her time aboard the Weeping Maiden, and in between either drinking or looting sessions, Miv spent hours researching the origins of the voices in her head and how to control the urges stemming from them. She still often caught herself yelling at random objects or performing odd tasks for unknown reasons, but things slowly started to get better. Or so it seemed.

Years passed and the rivalry between Aya and Miv continued to grow. When Miv sensed that her crew was on the verge of a mutiny, she sneaked out of it on a rowboat. For better or worse, as shortly after her escape, she heard screaming. The last thing she saw was a blinding white light... before she woke up in a mindflayer's pod.

Yeah, nobody I know likes seagulls, either.

Those tiefling horns are pretty cool, but they are a little hard to see. I wonder if Larian can gives us a bit more customization there, like maybe some spiral patterns, glyphs, daisies, etc.?

For me it's really hard to create backgrounds for characters when I don't know how the game is going to treat them... for example I wouldn't create a character from Baldur's Gate when the game plays there and I have no clue what actually is going on there - so my choice would be rather a foreigner, but the game keeps calling them Baldurian... its feels off...

Never the less, I hope to run a custom party at some point with some connection to the past (even if the timeline is questionable) if the game doesn't pick up this thema for their own storyline:

Gorion DeVir (Half Drow, vengance Paladin with a touch of fiendish Warlock)
He grew up without ever meeting his father. His mother though told him his name was choosen in honor of that man. Gorion only knew that the man became a hero in the city of Baldur's Gate before reuniting with his mother for a short while later in life.

Gorion and his mother used to travel around, never staying too long, always avoiding too much attention. She educated him in how to be a noble, for no matter their current circumstances, he had a proud background. After his mother's death at the hands yochlols he swears vengance against all worshipers of Lolth and starts his journey to find out more about his father. As he sets of on his adventure something seems to awake within him... something dark... still his journey leads him to Baldur's Gate where he gets the reception one would expect when drow blood runs through their veins. Willing to prove himself to gain entry he takes a job to hunt down a suspected Amnish spy that just escaped his capture by fleeing to Athkatla - a place Gorion knows nothing about...

Arkhan (Human, hopefully an urban gloom stalker ranger, if not a hunter will have to suffice)
Arkhan grew up a son of a simple Amnish merchant, spending most of his life on ships travelling the coast up and down. Still this peaceful life turned out not to be for him, for the only joy he felt, besides being at sea, was fending off pirate attacks. So he turned his passion into a profession and started to work as a pirate hunter. His profession kept him traveling the Sword Coast like in his youth, just with more fun by bashing a couple of skulls (who all deserved it - at least that's what the their warrants claimed - but it was definitely fun).

Finding work in Baldur's Gate usually was tough due to his origin, but people started to get to used to see his face every now and then between jobs. Still he should take a clue about how much they liked him, when he turned out to be recommended to a newcomer as guide to Athkatla... I mean come on, why else send you a Drow as client?... But a job is a job and if nothing else finding the half Drow's target could get him some reputation with the right people in Baldur's Gate for future jobs...

Rajsha Corthala (half elf bard... because she harps)
Rajsha's beauty wasn't the only reason why she was known around the city's nobility. Being a Corthala meant something around here - well, at least it used to. Long gone are the days of vampire and mage hunting that made her ancestor a known hero. These days her fame in those circles was mainly just from her ability to entertain them with music and a marvelous voice. To be honest her interest in the people themselves was also more professional than anything else. Being around drunk rich and powerful you end up with information that you usually would have to pay a hefty sum on the street - and her master Jaheira definitely valued these snipets of knowledge.

The latest news though didn't come from some fancy court, but from some friends at the docs. A Half-Drow came to town looking for a local merchant with ties to Baldur's Gate. Rajsha's master had him in sights for several months already for he seemed like trouble, so the bard made sure the hunters would stumble across the right people and find themselves in the right places to speed up the process. The report of the mission's success though sparked an interesting reaction from Jaheira once she was told the name of the Half-Drow. Now Rajsha finds herself packing, with some strange task to join the two bounty hunters' journey back to Baldur's Gate and keep an eye on the half elf reporting back. Convincing the duo to let her follow along shouldn't be a hard task especially once she delivers the warning that the ship crews shouldn't be trusted for the merchant has many of them in his pocket. The group will find themselves travelling north on foot...

Nynthia Byoerndaugthyr (human, barbarian... though she is also great with plants)
Born among the clans of Icewind Dale Nynthia never really fit in. Something was pulling her away from everything she knew, she needed to see more of the world to know if her place was really with the clans. The path south was eye-opening in many ways. It was hard to get accustomed to more 'civilised' cities and she definitely prefered to stay by herself surrounded by nature, but that wasn't the point of this whole ordeal, was it? And yet, no city seamed to offer her what she was seaking. But neither did other places. There was a certain calling she didn't understand and kept her going further and further.

One day she finally found herself all the way down in Tradesmeet in a small tavern talking to a druid. The druid recognized the calling she discribed, but pointed out to her that she won't find the answers anywhere but in herself and she should listen and not chase it. Not too sure what to make with the wisdom she never the less decided it was time to return back home. Passing through Athkatla she decided to join a carawan as additional hired sword to earn some money - travelling in groups should be saver anyway.

After several days on the road it was time to ear her pay as a group of goblins ambushed them. Things were looking a bit dicey until a small group of travelers appeared and joined the fight. Those three - and their 'packaged' follower - offered to join the caravan for the rest of the journey as well, but were rejected due to their Drowish companion. Nynthia on the other hand found the group more intriguing than the carawan so she decided to join those and help with their package. Together they travelled back to Baldur's Gate to finish the Drow's quest just to see a strange flying ship appear...

Name: Kelian Silverblade
Race: Half Elf
Class: Ranger (Fighter/Gloom Stalker)
Background: Urban Bounty Hunter
Alignment: Neutral Good
Deity: Lathander

He's a ranger hailing from the eastern lands of Aglarond. He is an expert skirmisher with experience engaging undead due to Aglarond's proximity to Thay. He's the last of his group whose mission was to eliminate a group of Thayvian spies who moved west to build their nation's influence in the rich cities of the west. It was in Baldur's Gate where his mission finally came to an end when the attack happened and he was taken prisoner...

He's your usual silent strong type and a true believer of redemption. Kelian hates anything undead as he sees them as an abomination to nature. He is also not too tolerant of races that thrive on tyranny so he generally has a beef with the usual evil aligned creatures he faces.

I'm still debating if he will kill Asterion once he discovers he's a vampire but Kelian believes in redemption so he may stay his hand.

This is such a great thread! Love reading everyone's backstories, glad to know I'm not the only one who enjoys diving into the deep end!

```
Veldrin - guild artisan, Drow Wizard (I really want her to be a bladesinger, but as of now playing her as an evocation, because abjuration would be great if it was like it is in the PHB!)
Veldrin is from the subterranean port deep beneath Waterdeep, Skullport. She was raised by her father, Solaufein, a devote worshipper of Eilistraee. While she heard stories of the oppression and abuse suffered in Lolth-worshipping societies, Veldrin was lucky to have grown up in Skullport, even if it was a grim, cutthroat place on its own. And attending Eilistraee's hidden Church at the Promenade of the Dark Maiden, she had some moments of peace and security.
But Veldrin couldn't help but carve her own path. She had a talent for alchemy and enjoyed foraging for dangerous, exotic ingredients. Skullport was a prime market for all sorts of potions. Soon she made a name for herself and she was making good money. But nobody makes money in Skullport without attracting the attention of Xanathar's Guild. At first she enjoyed the game of cat and mouse, but it became progressively dangerous. They weren't going to stop, but Veldrin didn't want to stop either until they tried to harm her father.
Realizing that she'd bitten off more than she could chew, she took her father's advice to escape to the surface. It took time to figure out what strings needed to be pulled to slip out of Skullport without Xanathar's Guide noticing, but eventually she entered an agreement with another criminal organization, Bregan D'aerthe. For the group it was a chance to upset Xanathar, but they also had Veldrin swear to a year of service once she got to the surface. Promising a year felt like nothing for an elf.
She had just seen the open waters above when the Mind Flayers attacked.
```

I really hope they give us alchemy tools! I love all the mushrooms and plants for far, so I expect it's coming soon!

Tav. The noble spoiled drow.

His family was one of faithful ones, they believed in Loth with all their spiritual force. But then they have to handle the newborn, he hadn't the carachteristic red demonic eyes blessed to his kin by the infinite wisdom of Loth, and his skin.

They should have offended the mighty Loth, or their family were the target of some hex launched by them traitors the Sedarine ones, because there was no other explanation for that green shade, and those unholy marks in his face. Nevertheless the family won't abbandon one of theirs, even whe the seeds of failure where plenty and obvious like in the little smiling and cheerful new born Tav.

They had fears, and those become real when the youngling started to show almost no interest in the ways of the underdark elves. The power game, the web of lies, betrayals, homicides that were the tools his family used to obtain power and wealth and to stand against the more powerful houses and their matriarchs, were indifferent to him and he didn't show interest in their claims against the Seldarins scums.

A warrior, a proud family of assassins, spies, innovators in the field of poisoning, creative in the blackmailing, generations of a revered tradition dismissed by the adolescent green skinned drow because he loved swords, and armors.

Fools they were to let him be so intimate with their slaves, specially that one, the red haired woman, she. She was the culprit, she that never let her status to broke her optimistic and serene character, she filled the head of the kid (that she was supposed only to breastfedd in his early months and then tutor before he was of the age due to be able to access the education planned for him by the grand mother and matriarch of his household), with stories of the surface, its colors, the different races, the cities filled with adventurers, bards and explorers.

She, she was a bringer of doubt and chaos, and how he drink of her fountain, how thirsty he grew of a world different from his.

And how weak his mother and father were. At least that was what the grand mother tought, because only uncapable parents would allow such spoiling of a young promising mind, but she too had a soft spot for that little boy, his naivity, how narrow minded he seemed to be.

She had a difficult decision to make. He was a teenager, a child to the centuries old woman, he was ripe and ready to start the training in the ways of the assassins (he wasn't smart enough to follow the road of a wizard, neither he was faithful enough to become a dark priest serving under Loth, and damn all her family if she would allow the kid to become a savage defenser of nature), but he didn't show the nerve needed to kill, in many occasions he had shown discomfort whenever he tought a death brought by his family members wasn't deserved.

And those relatives were starting to be rumourous, the kid had to be disposed of. He was a stain on the name of the Yril'Lysaen, a menace to their plans to obtain nobility and in the end gain a seat in the council.

The road to take was crystal clear: repudiate him, get him rid of his family name and name, and put him in shackles and to work in some basement, polishing the weapons of the trustworthy members of the family.

How could she? He was such a cute little fella, and she was fond of his uniqueness.

She passed nights thinking on what to do, the she took a decisition. The other fools could see him as a danger, she? She saw potential. If they wanted to escalate the social ladder they can not rely only in their dark ways, assassination, blackmailing, and backstabbing were spread in the Loth's beloved ones. The family had to differentiate, exploiting new ventures, taking chances.

A kid fascinanted with the surface and its dwellers, a boy who didn't loath the other races, a drow whose skin and eyes color would make easier to interact with societies that were suspicious of drows? That was an asset to be used.

So she informed the kid that he would not become an assassin, that he would comply to his duties to the family by becoming their eyes, their ears in the surface. He would be enrolled in a commercial ship of one of the big cities in the surface, with the gold gained with his work he would seek a trainer to become a fighter.

Thus Tav departed from the underdark, his fellows made sure no danger was done to the child, but then they left him on his own. It was frightful and exciting at the same time, he was "free".

And oh, he enjoyed his chances. His first voyage was uneventful, he had the chance to write many letters to his family, describing in detail (too much detail) every new thing he comes to encounter, also he discover pleasures he had only heard from the jokes of his companions (and thei stories of endless love conquers).

Little he knows that he and the half wood elf druid had conceived two fraternal twins, one with the red eyes of loth, one with the bless of Silvanus.

He didn't even remember her name, it was supposed to be just a night of fun.

During his second long voyage he embarked in a mercenary ship as aid, there he found a dwarf youngling who where able to break his mistrust of other people and become his friend (one of the really few Tav accepted in his life) and also teached him the ways of the fighter, and started him in the ways of a protector.

They planned to make their name know alla around Faerun, they just have to find few comrades with a similar aim and with compatible characters.

Fate decided to rain on their parade when a group of skilled adventurers assaulted them both and kidnapped Tav. When he opened his eyes he was in a very strange place, prisoner, unable to move. His mouth dry, his heart neating so hard he wasn't able to ear anything than that tumultuous beating. He still shivers thinking about those humid and viscid hands lifting up his eyelids and that thing touching his body and making his road in to his brain.

But Loth (or Loviatar, after a certain encounter his not so strong faith has been put in even more doubt, he hasn't felt nothing from his prayers to Loth while the ritual of Loviatar have make him shiver almost in ecstasy), had his plans for him so a beautiful, alien, strong, warrior appeared in front of him. She was magnificient, and deep in his heart (and groins too) he knew she was the one, he had already broke so many rules of his family so he wouldn't let that entralling fighter flee away without at least trying to win her hearth and soul (also he thought how would be the appereance of a son with the blood of a drow and that of an alien amazon?).

Laeze'el is her name and Tav is sure Maldolm (his dwarf friend) would love her too (in a friendly way, Tav is strictly a serial monogamous), and together they will make Faerun tremble, and bards song their exploits and antics and heroism.

[Still thinking in a reason for him to have orange eyes and green skin, I'm aiming to a curse by Loth because some betrayal from Tav's parents, or to him being the target of a joke by some chaotic enity, demon or deity, but I can still play the card of the failed experiment with poisons and potions laugh laugh ]

[To those curious: for now he is far from reaching his love goal, but at least Laez'el has started to say that maybe she has a little of respect for him laugh laugh laugh ]

[A lot of years since I wrote a background for a character, also being new to D'n D, so I decided to focus more on a reason to his skin, that is not that of a dtrow (i don't get this habit of video game companies of allowing infinite amounts of skin colors, maybe is because I am a biologist but in a due specie the skin variants are few.]

Lyra Belaqua, half-elf rogue. Lyra is the nice girl next door. She never wanted to get involved with a cult or mindflayers or any of that stuff. And now she has to keep a group of total whackos together and from killing each other, especially the priest and the githyanki. Why they decided, that Lyra would be the best to lead them, she has no idea. She diod happen to stumble across each of them, but that doesn't make her a leader. She just wants to go back to Baldurs Gate and mind her own business.

I can identify with the reticent hero, who does what needs doing as the circumstances dictate, but with the long term intent of just getting back home. That is a valid and powerful motivation ... it certainly worked for Bilbo.

Tavvy the puppy-eyed urban ranger.

"Become a Ranger for Baldur's Gate," they said. "It's a profession with a FUTURE, people are always losing their pets, their familiars, their quasits and they'll pay you to find them! Upper City folks will pay you to teach their brats scouting skills!" they said. "And if everything fails, you can join the Flaming Fist or become a herbalist."

So Tavvy did just that, because it was better than climbing her way up through the tavern maiden system, and on graduation day she and her entire class were snapped up by an Illithid Ship, a species that had not been part of her curriculum.

Now, instead of going to the graduation ball (that's why there's make-up), she has to put her park-learned wilderness skills and scout-training abilities to keep herself and her hangry group of supposedly competent grown-ups alive. At least she gets to hang out with a puppy and a fluffy owlbear cub.

Yes, it's a mod! The basket full of clothes from Nexus. The creator mashed up three wizard tops with some nice looking pants, added a +14 armor and they look really fun on the characters. One of them has a vague Cowboy look to it and all. They are perfect for what I call a "narrative" run of the game, as you get the perks and the looks but you can concentrate on unlocking more dialogue bits and story.

Oh, I already have that mod. I haven't tried out all clothes yet. I have this one on my current character:

And some leather armor that looks nice. I have to go through the basket again then - thanks

I have not started my EA because I need to get a more powerful video card for my PC, but I have planned out the backstory of my character, I just can't decide if I should choose my human character or my half-drow character.

I love this thread and I love each of your stories.

I've written way too elaborate descriptions and background story for my characters (especially now that I am preparing for a full fledged 4man player-made squad) but I did write something that I could share here. In a moment of inspiration, I wrote these short pieces to each character (however, three remain unfinished) to practice and have something to lean back on once I start a proper story and to get a proper feeling for their characteristics and personas. Those who write will know what I mean. laugh

First of all - these are written from PC perspective (as you'll figure out rather quickly), and my characters are all portrayed as potential companions. I've tried really hard to stay true to the lore of the Forgotten Realms through the Player Handbook and the Wiki, but please - if anybody see anything amiss, do not hesitate to tell me. I want my "fanfiction" to be accurate and believable. laugh I am cooking up the "personal introduction" section for 6 characters (yes, I know we can only play as 4 but my brain said 6 special characters, so there will be 6 characters in my story - though two will not be directly in the party neither story-wise nor game-wise.)

Warning: these are super-mega-ultra cookie-cutter so don't expect something super creative or original. It just felt right for these characters. :]

Finally, you find yourself at the local inn. The room is buzzing with laughter, glasses clinging and shattering, music, singing and occasional shouting. You nod at the man behind the counter which gives you a subtle pointing towards an elderly lady sitting at the corner seat of the counter. The elderly lady looks at the bartender in surprise, and then turn her attention to you as you approach. "Finally here," She snickers, "Just look at me! You had me waiting so long that I grew old in the process." She laughs again, seemingly very entertained at her own joke. She leans in closely, you can feel her breath against your face and you can smell a vague scent of herb tea as she whispers, "Right now I have three people looking for work. They do not accept payment in gold but rather..." She stops, shaking her head slowly. “Nevermind. It’s better if you speak to them yourself.” She gives you a nod in three different directions. Following her glance, you quickly find the three individuals she’s referring to. At the entrance you see a female elf accompanied by an owl. At the corner of the inn, at a lonely table you see a pale male elf. And finally, by the window, you see an armored male half-elf. Who will you approach first?

<Approach the pale elven man sitting at the far corner, reading >
A male elf sits at a lonely table in the corner, reading. He is as pale as death with raven black hair. Judging by his robe and the potions hanging from his belt, you would assume that he is a wizard or perhaps a sorcerer or warlock. His hair is well combed, although his attire has some occasional tears in it. The most obvious sign of his travelling, however, would be his eyes. Vague, but visible, dark circles surround his eyes and his almost grim expression tells the tale of recent haunting adventures. He does not even notice as you approach until you cough in order to gain his attention - the elf looks up, startled. “Oh, I... Wait, who are you?” The elf peers at you with a expression best described as both surprised and suspicious, then suddenly, as if just now realizing where he is, he sighs and his face returns to a more neutral state. “Ah, right. I suppose a presentation is in order.” He stands up and makes a low effort bow. “Laucian Liadon at your service.” He sits down again, his expression is almost bored, he continues with another sigh. “I am a...” He suddenly stops himself, his eyes darting around for a moment before continuing, he seems somewhat more alert than before. “A wizard. Yes, of course. I am a traveling wizard. I am.... Uhm, just looking for some artifacts and clues to some...” He hesitates yet again, his face takes on a red-ish hue as he clumsily continues. “Wizardly... Business.” He closes his eyes shut, as if trying to regain focus, his face returning to it’s regular pale color. When he opens his eyes again, he appears somewhat more relaxed and he speaks slower, more seriously. “You must forgive me, I...” He rubs his temples with one hand before continuing. “Have not had a good nights rest since the finale of my last... Adventure.” He looks away, waving his hand in a dismissive gesture, however - the gesture does not seem to be aimed at you. “But alas, as always, duty calls and my mission is not yet over and it does require someone of... Discretion. So, here I am searching for some fellow adventures, matching that criteria.” He pauses, and for the first time during the entire conversation, he looks into your eyes and smiles faintly - almost friendly. “I am a wizard, like I mentioned before. I am adept in many things of the arcane arts - but my specialization lies in fire and lightning magic.” He clicks his tongue and frowns, lost in thought. He sighs yet again but gives you a tired smile. “Of course, I am ready to compensate the inconvenience by assisting you in your own matters. My spells are at your disposal, should you be willing to help me.”

<Approach the female elf standing near the entrance>
A female elf with blonde hair and blue eyes stand before you, hidden in a dark blue cowl. She is armed with bow and quiver, but you notice that she also carries a small hidden dagger attached to her left boot, and a short sword sheathed by the right side of her waist. Her right shoulder and arm is significantly less armored than their counterpart and seems to be covered in pale blue tattoos in what appears to of a somewhat tribal origin. The tattoos almost seem to be shimmering in the dim light of the tavern. A brown owl is sitting on her armored shoulder - it peers at you with huge yellow-tinted eyes, tilting it’s head as you approach in an almost questionable manner. The elven woman smiles at you and pulls her cowl back, revealing some feather decoration in her hair, which are of similar color to the feathers of her owl.“Greetings, traveler. My name is Aei, and this...” she gestures at the owl, “is Kuro. Don’t worry, she won’t bite nor claw without good reason.” She throws a glance at her owl before returning her attention to you, still smiling. “I am looking for ...” Her smile disappears as she hesitates for just a second. “Someone important.” The hesitation in her eyes disappear, and her gentle smiles appears once more. “But unfortunately they’ve proven hard to track, and I could use some help. In return, I’ll offer my assistance on your own quest.” She chuckles. “As you might have guessed, I am a ranger. I was being trained to become an Arcane Archer, a defender of our home, but...” She shrugs, but her smile remains. “My training was interrupted before I could finish it. I do however possess some useful magical skills thanks to my mentor, so it was not all in vain - although our primary ability...” She scratches the owls head. “Is to track and hunt.” She winks at you. “And we prefer to do so at night. If you help me find the person I am looking for, then I’ll lend you my skills as a tracker and huntress.”

<Approach the armored half-elf by the window>
Out of all the people in the crowd, a blonde half-elf stands out. You’re certain he is a half-elf since his blonde hair is tied back, revealing his elven ears, and his facial hair hints at human heritage. His eyes are as golden as his hair and although his skin is not quite bronze colored, you feel rather certain that the man before you is half sun elf which is rather rare indeed, considering sun elves’ views of other races. He is covered in full plate armor, only missing his helmet. His posture is straight and proud and he salutes you as you approach. A medallion drops from his hand only to hang freely from the chain wrapped around his wrist. You catch a glimpse of Lathander’s famous symbol on it before your attention is directed at the the friendly face in front of you. “Hail, traveler. I am Erdan Goldpetal, at your service.” The half-elf bows formally before you. “I am here seeking fellow adventurers to accompany me on my quest to find a murderer, and bring him to a nearby city for trial.” The paladin smiles friendly at you, his eyes glowing with determination. “The man I am looking for has been accused of murdering a noble woman and her fiance, sacrificing them in a gruesome ritual.” The paladin breaks eye contact with you and shakes his head regretfully, his thoughts wandering elsewhere for a second before he return his attention to you. “My superiors had me installed to ensure that he is escorted for a fair trial where he can face his accusations and the consequences of his actions. He is to be taken alive and to be escorted to the trial at all costs.” He corrects his already upright posture and places a closed fist on his chest. His voice rings crystal clear. “I am a cavalier, sworn to the Oath of Devotion. I offer you the protection of my shield during your own quest, should you agree to assist me on my own mission.” He lowers his hand, standing more relaxed than before - but retaining his formal posture. He gives you a genuine smile, and you are not quite sure whether it is a trick of the light combined with the frame of his shield or just your imagination, but you could swear you see a golden aura surrounding his blonde hair as he calmly continues. “I would rather die than see my companions harmed, you have my word.”

Now here is the backstory for my human character, which is what I will most likely be playing in the game, and using in my Baldur's Gate 3 fan fiction when I start working on it.

Name: Zavier "Hawkeye" Hawkins

Race: Human

Class: Ranger (Hunter)

Background: Urchin

Alignment: True Neutral

Birthday: 9 Flamerule, 1464 DR (30 years old during Descent into Avernus and Baldur's Gate 3)
Year of Six-Armed Elf
Born under the Sign of the Chalice
and with 3rd Quarter Selûne under the sign of the Swan

Who He Dreams Of Every Night: Cassandria Morrowind, a female half-elf

Zavier grew up living in Baldur's Gate, and unlike most urchins, he knew who his parents were. His mother, Maya Marivaldi, is an adventurer who came from Turmish. She was the sister of an infamous pirate captain named Anton Marivaldi, or so she claims. Zavier's father, Jarrod Rayburton, was an adventurer from Chult, and he is rumored to be the descendant of Dhalmass Rayburton, the only human member of the Tabaxi super-paladins from Mezro. Maya and Jarrod met each other in Baldur's Gate and they settled into the city and had Zavier, their only child.

Zavier grew up loving the city life, playing with his friends and such, but a part of him yearned to be out of the city to see nature with his own two eyes. This is likely because of what little Tabaxi blood is stirring inside his bloodveins, as Dhalmass had a daughter with a female Tabaxi, but since he was too young to go out adventuring on his own yet, his parents advised him to stay within the city among friends they know of. Years later, in 1476 DR, Jarrod and Maya received word that one of their old friends, who a few years ago became a paladin in Fort Morninglord, which is not far from Elturel, mysteriously disappeared along with all other Fort Morninglord paladins, and they decide to investigate their disappearance. Days later, Zavier soon got word that his parents have gone missing too. This emotionally devastated him, and now the only family he has left are his childhood friends that he grew up with, and living a life as an urchin, wandering the alleys of Baldur's Gate, stealing food wherever he could, avoid getting caught by the Flaming Fist and the Watch, and getting into fun mischief with his friends, who still have their parents, but none of their parents have the time or resources to adopt an orphaned child like Zavier, so on his worst days, Zavier would occasionally come to one of his friends for help, whether it is for food, drinks or new clothes.

At the age of 17, Zavier made some money as a freelancer, choosing to make his own surname "Hawkins" instead of using his father or mother's surname because he believed whoever is behind their disappearance is probably looking for him too or believes he is dead. With enough money in his coin bags, Zavier finally left the city to see the world outside the walls of Baldur's Gate. He traveled north to Neverwinter where he met and befriended a Ranger classed human man named Zarkin Farlong (My Neverwinter MMORPG character), who is one of the heroes of Sleeping Dragon Bridge, protecting the city of Neverwinter from evil threats like the moon elf lich Valindra Shadowmantle. Zavier is the descendant of Dario Farlong (My Neverwinter Nights 2 character), the Knight-Captain of the Neverwinter Nine who defeated the King of Shadows 100 years ago in the mid 1370's, and he taught Zavier how to be a Ranger. Zavier learned a lot from Zarkin, how to communicate with animals, be proficient with bows and arrows, etc. Also, during his visit in Neverwinter, Zavier met a half-elf woman that he immediately grew attracted towards because of her beautiful chestnut hair, almond eyes, flawless fair skin and slender figure. He only got her name, Cassandria Morrowind, but he never got the opportunity to befriend her, much to his disappointment, because like Zarkin, she too was busy helping protect Neverwinter from evil forces.

Zavier spent the next several years honing his skills as a ranger, but never getting involved in Neverwinter's affairs. Eventually in 1494 DR he grew homesick and decided to return to Baldur's Gate and try to find out what happened to his mother and father. however, after passing through Waterdeep, Zavier got captured by a strange ship with tentacles on the sides hovering in the sky.
