Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - Technical & Gameplay Problems Character Creation Issues

I just reinstalled BG3 through Steam on Windows 10. I went to load up a new game and run into this issue that it loads directly to this weird plane with 4 people already selected, none of them moving. No character creation menus, backstories, names. This is a fresh install with no weird settings. The cut screens appear normally with no error.

I had previous games on patch 2 I was running, and completed two run-throughs of the game, so it's not a hardware issue. Obviously, the old autosaved games aren't going to load on Patch 3. Help! I'm at a loss.

Things I've tried:
* Running as Administrator
* Running from Steam
* Running directly from BG3 folder
* Using Varian
* Using DX 11
* Turned off Windows Defender

Try creating a new profile and creating a new character from that.

Its most likely something like an antivirus blocking write access to the save file location. I had this with the original release, Bitdefender, was blocking changes to save folder. As soon as I let it through it character creation worked properly.

I've heard of this problem before and AvatarOfSHODAN solution fixed it
