In one of Gale's earliest lines after joining your party, he mentions that he has a cat. Where is it? Is somebody feeding it while Gale's off adventuring? Please give us a dialogue option to ask about it, I just want to know if the cat's being looked after.

I'm concerned about the cat too. Hopefully Gale is better at being a responsible pet owner than the other things he's tried.

It's a magic cat.

The cat is in his heart.

The Cat is Mystra; his referring to her as such is what got him dumped.

So many possibilities.

He has a complicated magical automation set up back home in which several times a day, a berber berry is dropped into a bowl, then turned into a goodberry, which is then transmuted into a live and exttemely nutritious mouse, giving the cat both food and stimulation.

There's also a sand golem in a box which the cat can litter in. The golem then automatically cleans itself through the sewage drop hole.

Gale is his own cat.

I hoped for option to turn into cat as druid, and be pet by Gale.

This uh brings up a cool idea in my mind. Each companion could have a unique familiar that's slightly different than the base ones for the spell find familiar. Gale could have a custom cat, or rather, Tressym that is his pet cat. Astarion a bat, Shadow heart a crow or raven, laezel could have a lizard, and Wyll a dog or possibly a snake. An animal that is very close to their thoughts.

In what D&D universe do rogues and clerics get familiars?

And i was like: Yeah, that would be fitting.

The other characters ask about it in banter, whether anyone has anyone waiting for them at home, but this does functionally mean that Gale is the only one who we can undeniably say is expecting to go home to some waiting p- *smacked*

Magic Initiate feat. Or multiclass wizard or such. Or other instances where you are provided find familiar as a spell or ritual. In 5e getting a familiar on a cleric is worth the hassle cause you can deliver touch based healing through it.

Also arcane trickster rogue.

The only reason Gayle should have his damn cat show up, is so the the various characters at camp can sit around the campfire and eerily sing "And the cat came back, the very next day..."

Hmm...maybe if Halsen uses cat form at camp, they can do this as well.

Okay, now I've got that stuck in my head. Ear worm: The gift that keeps on giving.

Just once I'd like to click the camp button and have it say "you have been waylaid and must defend yourself"
And then there's just the cat, like "WTF Gale!"

If they introduce random encounters between resting, and travel, then Gale's cat come looking for him is an absolute must.

The inclusion of Cats and Dogs makes all things better. We must have Tressym ! I once de railed a game by purchasing a Hellhound from a Devil and forsaking all other tasks in an attempt to change its alignment to good.
