Look... weird. In terms of both color and amount. Battlefields look like a massive spills of raspberry juice with some unfortunate victims drowned in it. Like a massacre in a Disney cartoon. Literally unbearable.

They're for electrifying and freezing... <sigh>

I wish they could restrain themselves a little bit more with this stuff too. Sure, when something violently dies, make a small pool of blood. But not from every little 3-4 hp hit with a blunt weapon.

HP is an abstract in D&D and losing some even from a sword attack doesn't mean you get a huge open wound. A character with 120hp brushes off the attacks instead of getting cut every time. Maybe they parry but the enemy gets to elbow them in the face. HP also represent stamina and getting bruised in that sense. Imagine the amount of blood high level characters are going to let out in combat.

Larian clearly has the wrong interpretation of bleeding and HP loss here. They're just not missing a single opportunity to create more surfaces for the battlefield.

If my comments bother you, there is nothing easier than telling me to stop.
I mean ... I won't ... but it's easy to say. wink

So now we are at the point of complaining about how much blood monsters have?

Is there any problem with complaining that something looks silly and spoils otherwise the great game?

Hadn't seen that clip before -- I think we've found the inspiration for the blood pools.

I hope the final game has the option to turn those off. I think they are over the top and kinda dumb. BG2 had the option to turn off gore and BG3 should as well.

Honestly I don’t mind gore in games if done correctly. Think Fallout 1-2.
But this... i can’t even say it’s gore.

Yeah, it's the Larian sense of humor -- over the top, farcical. And it's party of the DOS2 surface system. Like 1varangian said. You are supposed to freeze it or electrify it.

My issue with the blood pools is that they don't seem to go away. I had a death happen at my camp and for the rest of that game, my bedroll was in a huge pool of blood.

I remember that first teaser Larian made for BG3 convinced many they will abandon their cartoony style. In fact it was thought it was made as a statement they were going to.

All this surfaces stuff strongly reminds me of casual mobile games.

It really seems like after playing this DNDINO I'll be really motivated to play some real D&D!

It's hard to imagine that's what they're going for.

As a matter of fact that's an inspiration for pretty much every over the top blood spurt. Amusingly enough, it's all the result of special effects technitians messing up and setting higher pressure for blood effect then it was intended. Oddly enough for Kurosawa, he loved it and decided to keep the take.

The more he ages the more he looks like Quentin Tarantino... as a vampire in From Dusk Til Dawn.

This is why the game needs prestidigitation.

Poor Larian. They are being compeletly bombarded by dnders. And i can't even say anything in their defence, bcs i have little to no clue about dnd stuff. Except i can say with confidence that if Larian will listen to every dnd guy popping up here with his ideas, this game will never be released.
