Hello Mac users!

We’re very happy to announce that today, Patch 6 (with Hotfix 16 included!) is beginning to roll out on macOS - beginning with Intel hardware. M1 will follow as soon as we’re satisfied with it - allow us to explain why.

As you’re aware, we had to delay Patch 6 for Mac until we were happy with how it was performing. Patch 6 for Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the most important and most complicated patches in the game’s history - taking the engine itself to new graphical heights. The M1 chip is capable of making these new changes really shine on the new M1-powered Macs, but new graphical updates, powered by new architecture, mean we need a little more time to get the performance to the levels it is capable of. Once it’s there, we think you’ll really enjoy the performance and quality.

Thank you for the news. I am pretty sure team will do amazing job. I am on Mac M1 and can't wait to play patch 6.

Don't suppose you'd be willing to let us know when you finally get access to it? That might let us Stadia stepchildren make a rough guess when we might maybe possibly get it.
Just wish we had a rough estimate... Is it any day now? Should I keep checking every few hours? Will it be a week? Maybe two?

I am thinking another week for M1. But this is just a guess.

I'm betting on M1 tomorrow, 28/10/2021 and Stadia on 4/11/2021. Wish they'd give us a best guess prior to "hey, it's done"... I'm still checking 3 or 4 times a day, even though it's been almost 2 weeks.

Sooooo... there's a new 93.1 GB file downloading in GOG with an M1 in the file name... could this be the day?

Still no M1... They must be doing a lot of work for that version. Hopefully it will also include a new hotfix.

I just installed patch 6 today on my M1 Mac after a glowing reviews. I cannot find a way to install patch 5 if it was never installed previously. Anyone??

Seems like I was able to select the beta in settings (without a code) and then the patch 5 became available.

Did you? I still cannot play patch 6 on my mac M1. I get the "We are sorry we are working on blah blah" message. How did you install patch 6?

Almost 1 month, and M1 version still not yet available… frustrating. Larian please only release next patches when ALL versions are ready.

I am getting my M1 max 16" on wednesday. I'll be happy to try patch 6 out when it's available and report how it runs on the new machines.

I just got my M1 max Saturday and started playing the game yesterday. Patch 6 is supposed to be optimized much better for the new MacBooks, but who knows when that will come out. I've been playing on Patch 5 and while its great, there's currently no way to check my frames per second, so its a little difficult to tell how well its running. The FPS Counter from the steam overlay doesn't work with the ARM version of the game.

Just to report how it seems to be running: It runs without stutters at the 2160x3456 (16:10) resolution option (native minus the top part with the notch) with maxed settings for me, but I set a frame rate cap at 60 Hz usually to keep the fan speeds and heat down a bit. The laptop is definitely getting put through its paces at that point though so expect a lot of heat and fan noise. I'm using the 16" M1 Max with 10&32 cores, 32 GB memory, and 1TB storage btw.

Hey Ben, Sorry I know this is a Mac thread, but can you update us on if some of the bugs in patch six will be dealt with in a hotfix, or will it likely be patch 7 before that happens? Also any idea on timelines?

I'm itching to play patch 6 content, but can't because of the targeting and camera issues.

Patch 6 released Oct. 14 on PC. Still not playable on mac M1. Not even any news from Larian on a possible release date. Frustration is growing high.

Right? I wish would could just get like an ETA or something, haven't heard anything in about 2 weeks.

Couldn't agree more. People publishing builds gameplay of the game for patch 6everywhere, i cannot even watch due to spoilers. I am so close to uninstall.

I am struggling over here I got the new M1 Max MacBook Pro and I'm dying to play BG3 with the new optimizations and content but I don't even know if it'll be done this month

Another week passed. Don’t expect to have the patch available for M1 this week-end. Give us some news and make more people working on M1. We want to have patch 6 before patch 7 being released for PC.

I was aggravated about not getting any updates for Stadia. But this is really getting nuts for M1. Communication is usually one of Larian's strong points. Not this time.
Massively disappointed.

I have no idea why this patch has caused such a problem but I hope Larian can learn from it.

As a Stadia player I was disappointed but for M1 players this is getting silly, not even a single comment in weeks.

I launched the game on my M1 max earlier, and at 1440p with all the graphics pushed to the max, I don't hear the fans and the machine is barely hot. It's just insane performance on a macbook!

I'd just like to thank Larian for implementing a Mac version and then thanks them again for adding a native M1 version. The game runs beautifully and looks amazing, keep up the good work!
