I have seen the presentation yesterday but I would like to suggest some sort of body "Size" customization if possible.......a skinny barbarian? Really? To me it does not fit into the role, what do you think?

Dude, if they would make a masculine man this would offend twitter community. And this game revolves around pleasing twitter mob. So you only can ask for masculine women and for feminine men. This is why there are no normal feminine women to romance also.
So good that when DOSII was created they didn't try to please twitter. This is why DOSII is great.

100% agree! When has anyone ever seen a short, scrawny "barbarian" that seemed intimidating? I realize that Wolfheart guy might be one of the bigger YouTubers for BG3, but his BODY TYPE is not that of a barbarian I'd ever want to ROLEPLAY. Give us some body size mods so we can make characters look the way we want them to look.

I was thinking same when i started my latest playthrough and went into character creator, I was bit disappionted this time that we do not have body modification or muscle customization system in character creator, at least give us 4-5 preset options Larian, Pwease

Yeah, the malnourished barbarian look doesn't work for me. It's bad enough that I haven't been able to get myself to play the new patch yet.

Is the lack of body sizes the reason we don't have half-orcs yet?

I can't help but notice some truth to this when I see the companions. All the females start with a Str score over ten. All the males start with a Str score under ten.

Fret not, big barbs are coming – check out Chubblot's recent tweet

I'm kinda surprised they released barbs without these ready for players, but I'm sure they had their reasons.

Totally agree. Tried to roll a human barbarian but seeing that wimp made me move to dwarf. Then i heard the available voices and...meh.
I am missing half-orcs at this point or mentioned body options. A fitting body is already ingame, i mean, look at Halsin and he half-elf...

Funny how people complain that Barbarians desperately need half orcs ...

Ah, a person of culture! Glad I'm not alone. Been preaching about body types since the Early Access launch. Where are my muscle women and men for martial classes, and my rotund people for eventual monks? Heheh

But seriously, yes, I'm DYING for body types.

I think adding body types would be great. Their lack of feels particularly jarring now that we have the Barbarian trailer.

Heck, I would love to see a body type similar to Jimmy from Panel From Hell, not just the classic Arnie.

Dig deeper next time. It was original design, all characters would narrate themselves in past tense. Then the idea changed because players was unhappy with the past tense in dialogues. That narrating Chubblot's found is leftovers.

And for the topic. I'd think everyone would know by now that the body types are in work. It just not that simple to implement them.

I can imagine that there will be different body type options once the game is released, and that they are not yet included because it is not that easy to implement them.
As far as I know, you can not simply use the same rig for all body types when you want your characters to look/move realistically. And the animation of more pronounced muscles should also be realistic.

There is also a lot of physical interaction between our character and the companions/other NPCs. I think it is (currently) simply more easy to consider only a few different character models for these animations. There already is a character with a more muscular body type, Halsin, but our characters do not really interact with him physically.

I would really like some variety in body types once the game is released, but to me, it is perfectly fine when it is not yet implemented in early access due to time constraints.

Yes, I would not be surprised if Halsin's model is a sneak peek for more muscular player character options.

The lack of body types really took the wind out of the sails for this patch. It's hard to not laugh at the frail barbarian, just like it's hard to take the barbarian trailer seriously.

People keep saying that the body types are coming. Great, but they're not here yet. And meanwhile, the barbarian looks ridiculous.

It's not like people were screaming for this patch release. If the new body types weren't ready why not just wait a bit to release until they were? If the half-orc wasn't ready why not wait a bit until they were? Again, nobody was screaming to rush this patch out.

A skinny barbarian is fine though - but if you build a 18 STR character they do need to look buff for sure. You could make a Dex based berserker or warrior in which case skinny is perfect smile

Maybe make a "muscle" slider (gender neutral) based on your Strength. As you put points into STR your character becomes more muscular (more buff w/e).

Is a skinny Dwarf just a halfling? You can have a fat dwarf, but a bodybuilder dwarf is basically what the dwarf is now. Also, a bodybuilder Halfling with a beard will just look like dwarf. A bodybuilding elf with a helmet will look like a human. So are they making more options or fewer options?

Yeah this is definitely a big issue for me as well but I am encouraged by the new Karlach datamined body and Halsin.

I am hoping, realy, really hoping these are going to be available for players rather than just one very specific NPC.
Anyway if these two bodies are available for players I think they will do very nicely for a barbarian physic.

More than a muscular body type I'm missing armor variety. For everyone but especially Barbarians.

When you put the Barbarian in that same Scale Mail (+1), he looks like everyone else who wears armor. Or in Lae'zel's Half Plate which is more like a meme now, stealing it without her minding at all. She should start with a Githyanki Scale Mail level armor just for that reason alone.

We need Medium Armor (and Light for others) that doesn't cover everything and looks more rough and utilitarian than the polished decorated fashion armor we have. Like a sleeveless version of Aradin's Breastplate. Why don't we have Breastplate available at all?

It would be nice to have more different armors ...
But hells im praying to everything that is holy so nobody from larian gets that horrible idea that Armors should altern their own look based on who wears them. :-/

So, all in favor of Halsin size fighters and barbarians, but quick question, do you want the physique select-able at character creation, or automatic if your Str and Con totaled exceeds say 30?

I actually liked the skinny barbarian. Gave me "pissed off old man" vibes. Sure, he's not built like a steakhouse like when he was younger. But you're about to get punched by 50 years of hard working and drunken bar room brawls.

That said I agree that we obviously need body type options. I wanna be a buff druid like Halsin.

It would have to be an option you could select, in my opinion.

I love the idea of tying body type to stats. I would much rather play that way, but I don't think it's likely to get any traction. We live in a world where people have mixed feelings about health and body shape. I don't think Larian wants to tackle the controversy of what a healthy (high Con) body looks like.

eh, I feel like there should be some sort of restriction on it...

Someone with a strength score of 8 shouldn't look like a beefcake, even if their constitution score is on the higher end.

I feel like making it something you could choose freely is fine. I mean, if you as a player think it's ridiculous for a str 8 wizard to be buff, then you can just choose not to make them buff. And then people who enjoy making ridiculous characters can do that in their own time.

I dont see a problem of being a fit Wizard to be honest......why not.
It is being a skinny Barb that is kinda impossible......unless you wanna throw just rabbits and squirrels.

For the record, I 100% agree with you. I just feel like that option isn't even on the table in today's twitter culture.

As DnD and other fantasy games are all about stereotypes (which is a bit sad, but anyway) we need the muscular barbarian because it's a strength based class. Kind of stupid as most real "barbarians" or tribal warriors were quite skinny people without big "Conan-style" muscles shaped by anabolic agents. I have no problem at all with skinny warriors and barbarians (actually the normal body type in the game is quite muscular) but I like variety, so there have to be several body type options, at least skinny (much less muscles than now), "fantasy-game" normal (many muscles but not overdone, as the current body), muscular (hello Conan) and stocky. I also want a male skin option without body hair, I need my cliche skinny and hairless half-elf/elf.

As I stated in a previous post, this is still EA, and I, at least, consider this a cosmetic change. I'm sure this will be changed once the game is released.

This sounds exceedingly petty I'm sure, but this could be a deal breaker for me. There is so much great entertainment available currently and any RPG that takes character creation seriously needs different body types as a mimimum even if we don't get sliders of any kind. I usually only have time for one playthrough and I always play some kind of warrior archetype so playing a guy who looks like a white collar worker who maybe rock climbs a bit and cycles on the weekend does not fill me with any great enthuisiasm.

Sorry a bit off topic but...
Man does the game need better <hard> shadows. Everything feels soft and too bright. Like Larian cranked up the overall brightness and shadow brightness +10. Feels like there is constantly a soft light box everywhere. Looks blurry and bad.

Edited the image to show what I mean. I think it looks 200% more amazing. Sharper and more realistic. But even then the shadows (building, trees on the ground are still too way to light...)
I would hope this is on purpose? Maybe to better see animation flaws/bugs during this EA...
At the very least I hope we will have options to do this ourselves, like in Pathfinder WOTR; options to change Gamma, Contrast, Brightness, Colors...

It just reminded me of the bowl of goat's milk that old Winthrop used to put outside his door every evening for the dust demons. He said the dust demons could never resist goat's milk, and that they would always drink themselves into a stupor and then be too tired to enter his room..
