A week back, I retrieved the shield and ran like an idiot into the trap on my back because I forgot it is there. Then, I dug up the treasure chest.

Just to... Get a 60-something gold bounty. The goblins were displeased at my "theft". Is it because I triggered the trap? I hadn't yet before and certainly didn't steal.

Well, alright. But, is this a bug, or are there items in the world not marked as stolen goods despite being... stolen goods?

did you damage the war drums? that upsets them as of this patch

there are also restricted areas that can cause a fight i.e, the halfling merchent and the priestest home both get you in trouble unless they invite you there but only if someone sees you are in there... its like the army, what isn't reported didn't happen so its fine

I hadn't entered the would-be-castle through the door yet and didn't damage anything to my knowledge. I went the intimidation route to get past the outpost. No fighting. The goblins only had a problem with me after I grabbed the shield from that corpse and dug up the chest.

Narrator mentioned theft specifically and my bribe was about 60 something gold. The only thing I could have stolen from was the chest by the corpse. It's locked afterall.

no the Glowing Shield is not loot that anyone owns so its fair game however the dead body next to the kids down below is owned by those kids

imo the string trap may have made enough noise to upset the drunks? but they can't reach you up where the Glowing Shield is found so perhaps that is how you managed it

I have no Idea. They were still lying around passed out when I considered breaking in some time later. Moreover, I have no idea who could have seen me do anything up there.
