The Goblins love to make money in lots of ways and one of them is through risky business like the gambling owlbear assault course game at the Goblin Camp. However, I think there should be more to it than just that. I feel Larian should create their own card game where the player can wager their gold. Just like Gwent in the Witcher 3. Furthermore, if it's a card game then maybe using the players' intelligence stat to detect bluffs or Pokerface of an opponent would make sense, and even the player choosing to cheat in their fold by using their sleight of hand stat. Then after winning enough, you can cash your winning for some exclusive weapons and armour, so then there's a purpose to the task within the game. There could even be a roleplaying scenario where you have to pit against professional foes to win the jackpot! This could also be exclusive to the players' background which I think should be called "Daredevil" which speaks of a once poor person winning their future back through gambling. I'm just putting this out there, just thought it would be an interesting prospect. What do you think?

I don’t mind mini games, but:
1) they rarely turn out well
2) should,be completely optional - so no valuable rewards like items. If it’s good rewards for the mini game itself should be enough
3) I don’t think Daredevil means what you think it means.
4) well, IMO sounds like a waste of time, BG3 has already so much ambition that I suspect Larian will be struggling to live up to it. No need to add side-games to their game. And as you mentioned already there is already chicken-chasing, if goblin’s gambling habits are such a crucial part of their culture.

Larian wouldn't even have to reinvent the wheel. They could just ask Wizards about https://mtg.fandom.com/wiki/Alchemy_Horizons:_Baldur%27s_Gate
and implement some cards and decks. Ofc it would be funny to listen to Gale's & Wyll's comments while they play themselves as cards.

This sounds like idea for WoW Goblins ...
DnD Goblins dont bother with Casino, they smash your head with a rock and take whatever they want ... and then they eat you. :P

I'm all about this idea! A Goblin Casino in Baldurs Gate 3 would be lit! I totally agree that there should be more to it than just the owlbear assault course game. A card game like Gwent in Witcher 3 would be sick, especially if we could use our intelligence stat to detect bluffs and Pokerface. And being able to cheat with our sleight-of-hand stat?

It does seem to be a magnet for them. We do try to nip them in the bud, but sometimes they fly under the radar so I’d be grateful if folk can use the forum report function to draw our attention to any new spam.

Anyway, that’s a couple of spam posts now removed from this thread and their accounts blocked.

EDIT: Just caught sight of this post in the active threads feed and realised I managed to mix three metaphors in two short sentences! Urgh, apologies crazy.

Hey guys, I spent about 30 hours playing poker in Red Dead Redemption, which made me a fortune in the game LOL!

But I completely agree with Wormerine when he says...

But, in real life, I don't condone gambling unless I'm having a lucky day...

Love good mini games in rpgs. Gwent in TW3, Pizzack in Kotor, Dice Poker in TW1, and Orlag in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla have been some fun of my personal favorites.

As a gamer, nothing is more immersive to me than my character enjoying games as much as I do. And making some cash to boot!

A sweet little dice game in a DnD world would be super fun!

I am skeptical on the idea of mini games by goblins, but maybe that sketchy tiefling kid in the Grove. He is already shifty with the coin trick. Having him also offer gambling makes sense to me personally.

Unlike wow goblins, bg3 goblins seem to beastly to care for dice. I am sure they would wager in a game of tossing darts at people competition .

I stumbled upon this thread while looking for similar discussions and thought I'd chime in. I really like the idea of incorporating a gambling aspect into Baldur's Gate 3, especially if it involves a card game like Gwent in Witcher 3.

Gwent wasn’t gambling though, as even though money was at stake, the random element wasn’t the determining factor.

approvegauntlet Yup.

I don't think people liked it as much as Gwent. Unsurprisingly, gambling games aren't terribly compelling without actual stakes.

Hi folks, I’m locking this thread as it’s unfortunately a magnet for spammers. We had to delete yet another one today. If anyone does have a genuine bit of feedback they’d like to add, then please PM me.
